I was hoping that IMDb could provide some alluring insights into the crew behind this obscure little movie, but no such luck. We don't even know in what studio it was made, let alone who produced it and who photographed it, etc. We do know it was directed by Bruce M. Mitchell and we do know the identities of the players. We also know it was originally released in 1931, but then re-issued by the United Pictures Company in July, 1936. On the Alpha DVD, the first half of the movie comes over quite well, but the sound is far too low on the second half, although it's still possible to follow the story. If nothing else, the movie is certainly fast-paced and director Mitchell makes good use of his real locations. In fact, you could honestly say the movie is top heavy with action and there's rarely a dull moment – and that's something that many a top Hollywood "A" production could not boast about at all. Our hero, Nick Stuart, does his own breathtaking stunts. Co-star, Priscilla Dean, was a big star in silent movies, but, oddly, although she has an excellent voice, talkies put paid to her career and she retired in 1932 at the age of 35. She died in Las Vegas at the age of 91.
