Lillian Parker in a feature film, and not much more
lor_23 November 2010
Obscene House is a very weak MOS porn film. Sole reason to watch it is to see the fabulous loop star Lillian Parker in her only feature film appearance.

I added her participation in the form of a Trivia entry to IMDb, because the database won't permit listing of uncredited performers who don't have other credits. Lillian never got screen credits because stag loops don't bother with such niceties.

She's one of four girls working as prostitutes in the title brothel run by Fat Mama, a grotesque individual that reminded me, in an unfunny way, of the late comedienne Totie Fields. No insult intended.

Since this is a silent film, it is pretty boring to watch, and its bloated 76-minute running time seems an eternity. The hack who signed himself as "Henry Blake" tries to make it amusing by having the femme narrator pretend this is something of a training documentary on how to succeed in business. Business, as in corporate strategies, which come out as a never-ending series of double entendres that will have most viewers quickly reaching for that good ole mute button.

Theatrical audiences 40 years ago did not have that luxury, so it's not surprising that OBSCENE HOUSE is such an obscure film. I'm sure unlucky exhibitors showing the film got negative feedback (like the similarly MOS clunkers from Nick Millard must have generated), and when they were doing future bookings demanded: "this time get me a REAL film, you know a TALKIE!".
