The stories are simple and perhaps a little unlikely, but the characters are all so likable and engaging that I found this delightful. Viewers who are winsomeness-intolerant may suffer an adverse reaction, because this does skirt Ally McBeal country, but hand in hand with this is a chronic melancholy more in synch with the industrial setting. Robson Green is different in this role than in the others I've seen him in; I enjoy him more in it, and he seems to be enjoying himself playing a very decent guy, awkward and fey and a bit gormless. Louise Delamere as his first love and Kerry Rolfe as his second are charming and, in their serious scenes, touching. Every character introduced is intriguing. A great job in a conventional form.
