This ABC Weekend Special is yet another one I saw on Youtube less than a couple months ago. This is the tale of no ordinary rabbit, but rather an extraordinary one. What makes this rabbit so is that rather than feasting or feeding on the blood of people or other animals, he drains the juice out of carrots and other vegetables. After a family finds Bunnicula and decides to keep him as a pet, he later wanders away from the house and into their neighbors' yards and gardens where he continues to do his thing. Then, the neighbors head to the family's house to speak to the father and confront him about these suspicious and unusual incidents that had been occurring, believing that the rabbit is indeed the one responsible for this. The family's dog, Harold, and cat, Chester, then attempt to keep an eye on the vampiric bunny and follow him closely, as they do some investigating themselves.
My feelings about this one are mixed, as I'm kind of ambivalent about this. After first seeing this, I couldn't find much to complain about, I didn't find much wrong with it. But then again, I never read the books. Even so, I still couldn't find what the fuss is, though there are some, certain, animated ABC Weekend Specials I like more than others, this being among my less favored. I may have missed something. Aside from not having read the books and reading the other reviews on here, three of which more positive than the sole negative review, on a listing of the best and worst animated T.V. pilots I read on a site late last night/early morning, I learned of the trivia stating that this was actually a pilot considered to be expanded into a T.V. series at one point. I didn't know that and I'm just wondering, how the writer of that online article knew that? That's news to me. Anyway, I'm indecisive on this, so I decided to give it either a 5 or 6 star rating, as it's in the middle. Because from what I read in one IMDb member's lower rated review and the commentary on that other site, I'll consider it decent, but not perfect. I'll just chalk this up to being an average adaptation. A somewhat good, if not great one.
