- The original length was 6907 m. with a running time of circa 302 minutes (20 fps); the censorship cuts reduced it by circa 2 minutes. The restored version at Cineteca Nazionale is shorter: 6341 m. (with additional episode summaries in parts 2 to 4).
- The censors imposed the suppression, in the second episode, of the blinding of the Doge, and what follows the intertitle "Blinded", the application of the mask and the close-up of the blind Doge abandoned in the street. Other cuts involved erotic scenes, such as: the intertitle "He causes shudders in the flesh of the courtesan"; in the third episode, the appearance of Imperia, who undresses "revealing her posterior form to the public", was cut.
