Here it is Friday November 13, 2015. The latest in many tentative release dates for the latest installment of the Friday the 13th franchise. But there is no movie. How has it been so difficult for a franchise based around the number 13 been able to produce 13 films? In a search for answers let’s look back at the latest entry, the 2009 Friday the 13th remake.
Camp Crystal Lake June 13, 1980, after a 24 hour killing spree, Pamela Voorhees is decapitated by a camp counselor who fought back. 30 years later a group of friends go camping in search of marijuana fields. What they find is much worse. Jason Voorhees, who makes short work of them. Six weeks later even more jerks head out to Crystal Lake to party. Throw in a guy (Jared Padalecki) looking for his sister who went missing six weeks ago. And Jason kills most of them.
Let’s start with the good.

Blazing a trail in 1995, Hackers tackled web culture on screen before the internet really took off. The cyber-thriller helped kick-start the career of a major Hollywood A-lister and swiftly became a cult classic thanks to its Hacker Manifesto.
As Hackers celebrates its 20th birthday today (September 15), here's what happened to the six stars who made up the cyber-punk crew.
Angelina Jolie
Hackers handle: Acid Burn
In 1995, Jolie was a fast-rising 20-year-old actress with Cyborg 2 and some big music videos (including Meat Loaf, Lenny Kravitz and The Lemonheads) on her CV. New York Times critic Janet Maslin was non too plussed about Jolie's performance, saying of her character: "Kate stands out. That's because she scowls even more sourly than [her co-stars] and is that rare female hacker who sits intently at her keyboard in a see-through top."
Now, the 40-year-old is an Oscar-winning superstar with humanitarian work spanning more than a decade and...

Puns, movie references and nods to Aardman’s past abound in Wallace & Gromit: A Matter Of Loaf And Death…
Animator Nick Park’s fifth Wallace and Gromit film, A Matter Of Loaf And Death (named for the Powell & Pressburger 1946 fantasy romance A Matter Of Life And Death, the first of many such baking-related puns) became the most-watched television programme in the UK in 2008, attracting a Christmas day average audience of 14.4 million viewers. It saw 62 West Wallaby Street, Wigan, transformed into a granary, making Wallace the target of a “cereal killer” intent on ridding the world of bakers. Gromit, as ever, came to the rescue.

Today is one of the greatest days that befall the people of Battle Creek Michigan: It’s the 31st annual Breakfast Day! On Breakfast Day, everybody in the city comes together and celebrates what put Battle Creek on the map — the breakfast cereal revolution. Everybody except Russ, that is, who, like his fellow detectives, is stuck in uniform patrolling a festival of cereal. Of course, Milt loves it. Mayor Scooter Hardy and his Chief of Staff (and brother) Daryl swing by say hello and to meet the FBI wunderkind. The Mayor grabs Milt for some show and tell, which of course, irks … Continue reading →

Michael Mann's techno-thriller Blackhat is getting dumped in January, which means it probably doesn't hold a candle to… Hackers (1995) Director: Iain Softley Stars: Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina Jolie, Matthew Lillard Crash Override, Acid Burn, Phantom Phreak, Cereal Killer, and Lord Nikon must stop The Plague from unleashing the Da Vinci virus and framing them for the crime. A Channel 4 News interview with a café that exclusively sells breakfast cereal ended abruptly after a member of staff refused to answer questions.
The newly-opened Cereal Killer Café in Brick Lane, which sells breakfast cereal from £2.50 a bowl, refused to discuss its pricing policy.
"
A member of staff was asked if it was justifiable to charge such prices when the café is situated in the borough of Tower Hamlets, one of the poorest in London.
He replied: "That's imported cereal from America," before adding: "Can we stop this interview?"
When asked why, he answered: "Because I don't like your questions that you're asking me."
Maybe he just wasn't Shreddie (sorry...).

Battle Creek, CBS’ upcoming buddy cop drama co-created by Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan and House’s David Shore may not have a premiere date, but it does have a noteworthy guest star.
Patton Oswalt joins stars Josh Duhamel and Dean Winters as the unorthodox mayor of Battle Creek, Mich., in the freshman season’s sixth episode, “Cereal Killer,” EW has learned exclusively. The character’s full name? Mayor Scooter Hardy. There really was no other casting choice.

Sony looks as if it will be asking audiences to empathise with characters we all know end up as nasty pieces of work
• New Spider-Man movie to be released every year, says Sony
Not long ago on this blog I mused on how tough it might be for Marvel to pull off a Thor spin-off featuring Loki, despite the rabid determination of fans to see a movie centred on the Asgardian supervillain making its way to the big screen. Based on a reading of recent Hollywood history, I was pretty confident such a proposition would never get beyond pie in the sky stage, even with the wonderful Tom Hiddleston's unmistakable dark-hearted charm to plunder. Studios, or so I thought at the time, simply have neither the guts nor the imaginative verve to deliver big-budget movies focused on bad guys. Outside of arthouse fare, we are still stuck with a...

If you aren't a connoisseur of horror figure collectibles, then you probably know someone who is. These collectors generally have a figure room in their home, and often it's been custom-made, which houses several shrines to various obsessions. FEARnet spoke to one such obsessive, Mr. Frights, about his formidable Neca collection. He's been gathering figures for over sixteen years and his pull includes some of our most beloved slashers. I especially like the Evil Dead collection. Check out the pics.
The Collector: Mr. Frights (a.k.a. Justin Lewis)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
What: Neca Horror Figures
Years Collecting: 16+
How Many: Around 60 Neca figures including a whole lot of their Head Knockers.
How the Obsession Started: Watching horror movies of course! I loved them so much, the characters and scenes, and when I found that toy makers were creating figures and prop replicas to go along with these beloved movies... well,...

When I was in middle school, I had the second best collection of Garbage Pail Kids in my class; second best, because Craig had the entire series. How did Craig have the entire series? His dad owned the only hobby shop in town that sold them. So while I, and everyone else in my class, had to squander all our birthday money Craig was getting them wholesale. So there we were picking through his scraps, Craig was amassing a complete collection. But all that has changed as now I hold all the cards. All the Cereal Killer cards, that is.

When you first lay your eyes on the DVD case for Kill Keith (depicting TV’s Keith Chegwin in Uma Thurman’s Kill Bill garb and wielding a samurai sword) you really hope that what lies within will be gloriously inspired rather than unspeakably awful. Let’s face it, the idea of a slasher movie starring various TV-am Z-listers being killed off by an unknown “Breakfast Cereal Killer” is a fun idea, no matter how cringeworthy. Sadly, Kill Keith squanders any of its potential novelty value by being a confused and unfunny mess, which is somehow far worse on screen than it possibly ever sounded on paper.
Marc Pickering stars as Danny, a clumsy but well-intentioned runner on a breakfast TV show hosted by glamorous presenter Dawn (Susanna Fielding). Crudely named ‘The Crack of Dawn’ – a gag once used in The Office to highlight David Brent...

Kill Keith is released on DVD from March 26th and we have two copies of the DVD to give away to our readers.
The nation’s favourite presenter, Keith Chegwin, has been entertaining the British public for more than four decades with his zany brand of cheeky chappy chuckles. From Swap Shop to Cheggers Plays Pop, The Big Breakfast to GMTV, his irrepressible, upbeat energy has kept him at the top of his game – King of the live broadcast. But his reign is about to come to a sticky and gory end.
Much loved television personalities are being gruesomely despatched using a variety of breakfast condiments and as the body count grows, so does the hysteria. There appears to be no stopping the Breakfast Cereal Killer as he marches relentlessly towards his ultimate goal … to Kill Keith!

Essentially a one-joke set-up stretched over 93 long minutes, aside from a couple of humorous moments (and a very funny 3D gag before the film starts) Kill Keith falls flat as both a parody and a stand-alone comedy.
A popular breakfast TV show called The Crack of Dawn (think cheap Daybreak knockoff with even less charm) is fronted by hosts Cliff and Dawn (yep, she’s been given this name purely to be made the butt of a hopelessly unfunny joke) whose distain for each other is clear through their strained daily relationship on the sofa. Mirroring his stint on the Channel 4’s nineties morning show, The Big Breakfast, legendary UK TV fixture, Keith ‘Cheggers’ Chegwin is also employed by the show as their roving reporter for a segment called ‘Cheggers Knocks You Up’ (the dreadful double entendres keep coming).

Kill Keith
Stars: Marc Pickering, Susannah Fielding, David Easter, Simon Phillips, Tony Blackburn, Joe Pasquale, Keith Chegwin | Written and Directed by Andy Thompson
Oddity alert! Sound the quirky alarm! Horror-comedy meets breakfast TV in this low budget gurn-a-thon, which comes across as some sort of unholy mash-up of Morning Glory and Seven. Kill Keith stars Marc Pickering as Danny, a runner on a breakfast programme, who is in love with its charming presenter Dawn (Susannah Fielding – 4.3.2.1., Doctor Who, Pete Versus Life) and wishes to replace the arrogant co-host Cliff (Easter) at her side on the sofa. The programme is called ‘The Crack of Dawn’, in one of the film’s slightly more sophisticated (really) if smuttier jokes.
Unfortunately for Dawn and daytime TV presenters everywhere, the so-called Breakfast Cereal Killer (again, indicative of the level of humour) is at large, bumping off C-list celebs in breakfast-themed ways. Tony Blackburn, Joe Pasquale,...

Following on from the teaser released earlier this month, here’s the full-length trailer for the Brit horror-comedy Kill Keith which stars Marc Pickering, Susannah Fielding, Joe Tracini and David Easter in a film that sees someone out to kill some of the UK’s most beloved daytime celebrities including Tony Blackburn, Joe Pasquale, Russell Grant and obviously, given the films title, Keith Chegwin.
The film, which is brilliantly described as a “hilarious horror film with a comedy twist that is set to explode like a bowl of porridge left in the microwave for too long”, comes from director Andy Thompson and is set for release in the UK on November 11th.

Are you like me and would prefer to just sleep in every morning? I can't understand the concept of "morning person". As far as I'm concerned, I never want to hear those two words together unless they are preceded by "…gruesome death of a…". But when you are forced to wake up early, what's the worst part of it? The morning news shows that are so sugary they make you want to puke. And that is the subject of Kill Keith.
This UK horror-comedy romp stars Keith Chegwin as himself in a film that is described as Saw meets "Richard and Judy". (Don't worry; I didn't get the reference either without looking it up. "Richard and Judy" was a British morning show of the same ilk as the ones described above.) Blech.
Kill Keith hits theaters on November 11 and has the potential to be a Shaun of the Dead flavored treat.

A stroke of genius, or completely & utterly bonkers I don’t know, but Kill Keith sure has one of the more intriguing and unique film concepts you are likely to see all year. Basically a remake of Quentin Tarantino’s death list revenge thriller Kill Bill but set around Breakfast Television (!), the Brit horror/comedy is about a cereal killer (!!) who attempts to knock off his own death list of potential celebrity candidates who are up for the job of co-presenting the nation’s favourite morning show – “The Crack of Dawn” – after it’s male presenter leaves.
In breakfast telly’s A-list ensemble elite, basically The Expendables of the daytime goggle-box, Keith Chegwin, Tony Blackburn, Joe Pasquale and Russell Grant all star as co-presenting hopefuls and therefore targets for the killer. Meanwhile Danny Nichols (Marc Pickering), a hapless studio runner who day dreams about being the new co-presenter so he...

Rather liking this new poster which uses Kill Bill for it’s inspiration although seeing Cheggers in this get up is rather interesting!
Welcome to the world of Breakfast TV, with chirpy presenters who wake us up with their positive attitudes and happy dispositions – but something sinister is afoot – there is a killer on the loose, The Breakfast Cereal Killer and few are safe…

Any trailer which has the tag-line ‘Saw Meets Richard and Judy’ has to be worth a watch! Kill Keith does what it says on the tin and is an entire movie based around killing TV presenter, Keith Chegwin! Kill Keith also stars Tony Blackburn and Joe Pasquale. Andy Thompson directs with a script from Thompson, Tim Major and Pete Benson.
The movie also stars Simon Phillips, Susannah Fielding, Marc Pickering, Dominic Burns and Joe Tracini. I’ll let the synopsis do the talking…..
Keith ‘Cheggers’ Chegwin is a household name and has been at the top of his game for nearly 40 years. He’s an all round entertainer and has lived with us via our TV screens on Swap Shop as kids through to GMTV as parents. He is undoubtedly a national treasure, and for nearly four decades has been much loved by viewers young and old. But now it’s time to Kill Keith.

Take away the nostalgia, and the best you can really say about Hackers is that it's an interesting cultural artifact, a movie where the technology practically feels like it's from the dark ages, yet it was released during the same year as the first Toy Story. It's kind of beguiling to think the same year a groundbreaking computer animation film was released that characters in computer-thriller were in complete awe of the power behind a 28 bit dial-up modem. I guess that's a testament to how rapidly computer technology has advanced in the past 15 years, but it's still quaint to imagine a virus spread through dial-up modems could capsize oil tankers out in the middle of the ocean. But, then again, Matthew Broderick nearly caused World War III in 1984's Wargames with an Imsai 8080.
Hackers is also a ridiculous movie, a mish-mash of attractive people skating around on roller blades (why?...
