No real violence to speak of. With regards to gore, a man get's his hand caught in a torpedo crane lever of some description. There is blood, which also falls on the camera lens. *Spoilers* Men go into a nuclear submarine's reactor room in order to repair the reactor after a leak, without proper radiation suits. When they come out, their skin his burned and peeling off in places, as they have been completely ravaged by radiation (Spoiler's end here).

Alcohol is consumed and some cigars.

Most of the film is quite tense as the second half of it revolves around the submarine's nuclear reactor going out of control, and the men onboard trying to repair it. The scenes in the violence/gore section are pretty disturbing.
