Intellectual - How could you become mnemonist without losing your mind
silviopellerani16 September 2000
Paolo Rosa is a "Milanese" underground director, one of those that are really missed in the Italian cinema (apart from Silvio Soldini).

A great introspective film about the clever madness of a man whose memory and imaged saturation mind bring himself into the deepest part of his subconscious, becoming almost a vegetarian.

Mister "S", The Mnemonist", a first violin man in a famous orchestra, needs professor "L" helps in order to establish the reason why he can not read anymore a music paper. The Mnemonist is a man with an extraordinary memory and this is the cause of his job weakness and handicap.

Words are transformed and decoded in images as the "kaleidoscope of the mind". The madness process determined by the saturation of images has started. It is not always worth to trip to the most hidden angles of our mind. Sometimes could be dangerous bring you to the madness. The soul cracking. Cockroaches that enter in a cracked wall, represent our fear and anxieties. It is better not to see. The furniture are covered in a desperate desire to forget images and sensations. Long corridors and mind paths well represented by a corroded steam factory. The flashback film images are blurred.

As soon as Mister "S" understands that all these mind images disturb his musical performance, decides to use his natural ability on different theatre performances. Weird and exceptionally "amateur".
