An American Emmy award-winning writer who created Britain's highest-rated sitcom has sued the company that hired him, charging that it is trying to cut him out of the American version of the show, Britain's Guardian newspaper reported today (Friday). Writer Fred Barron, whose credits include Seinfeld and The Larry Sanders Show, filed suit in Los Angeles accusing New York-based DLT Entertainment of trying to market a U.S. version of My Family without his consent or involvement. His latest lawsuit follows a $2-million breach-of-contract suit filed in May. Following the success of the sitcom, Barron was hired by the BBC to develop additional sitcoms. »
