Katie Puckrik is unique among Americans working on British TV in that she was actually fun instead of obnoxious (Ruby Wax and Karen Krizanovich, listen up); too good for "The Word," and this vehicle for her was pleasant to watch.
"Pajama Party" was a mix of comedy, chat and music - like many shows - with the hook being that it was set amongst the milieu of a sleepover hosted by the diminutive Miss Puckrik. This late-night show also threw some Granada-produced cartoons from the 1970s into the mix like "Simon and the Land of Chalk Drawings," which may have been a factor in my warming to the show. Too bad it only lasted one series... and too bad I never bothered to tape Katie singing the title song. Where's she gone now? And why are we still lumbered with Cilla Black? Life isn't fair.
"Come to my pajama party..."
