A comedic tradition.
CBJetBlack18 July 2003
Every year, when one class graduates, another comes in at Chapman University, and styles of comedy change along with that course. For five or so years now, Nightcap has been on the air, which is a feat in and of itself for college students with a full schedule. John-David Curry and Mike Bolan, the two original creators of the show have moved on to bigger and better things, but still show up once in a while to see how their proverbial "baby" is doing. The torch has been passed to the likes of John Duber (Now a news director in Arizona), Shawn Green (Not the Dodger Shawn Green, but the Producer Shawn Green), Scotty Anderson (Technical Director working at the same station that John Duber is at), Christine Reed (Freak on the Street), Beth Belew (Associate Producer for "I'm with Busey" on Comedy Central) and Jacqui Anderson (Associate Producer for "Cupid" with Simon Cowell on CBS, previously Associate Producer for All-American Girl on ABC). There's talent out there, and this show is a springboard into the business. It's solid, it's funny, it gets big guests for a college-produced talk show (Ed Asner, Gregory Hines, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, Deborah Wilson from MadTV [the first official friend of the show, first repeat guest], Dave Chappelle and many more), and it's the best 28 minutes you'll spend watching time warner orange, channel 6 in your life. I can almost guarantee that.
