A scant few hours ago Andy Milligan was an obscure exploitation
director whom I had never seen a single film of, but I heard his films
made Ed Wood's films look like masterpieces of technical film-making by
comparison. Now, after seeing "The Ghastly Ones" and "Seeds of Sin" the
man's work greatly intrigues me and I am now off to see as many of his
films as possible. Although I certainly enjoyed "The Ghastly Ones"
because of its ultra low budget charm, "Seeds of Sin" is the much
better film. What else can you say about a film whose opening scene
consists of an orgy featuring lots of hot lesbian sex? Good things when
you're me, that's for sure. Beyond that awesome opening scene "Seeds of
Sin" constantly hammers the audience with nudity and sex scenes. Yeah
they don't add much to the plot, but who the hell cares? As for the
plot, it's a real dozy. I think it has something to do with a miserable
old had knocking off the members of her family she doesn't like, but
the film gets lost going off on a tangent so many times I'm really not
sure. In addition to gobs of gratuitous nudity, this film also features
a woman getting electrocuted in the bathtub, a woman being stabbed in
the heart and lots of domestic violence. In other words, fans of sleazy
and trashy exploitation movies will thoroughly dig this one. A word of
warning though, unless you really like exploitation films you won't
like this one. The script is all over the place, the acting is either
over the top or wooden and the camera shakes in several scenes for no
apparent reason. Those that are passionate about the works of Ed Wood,
Herschell Gordon Lewis and lots of other drive-in artists will really
enjoy this one.
