If you missed last week's mind-blowing episode, "Queen Sacrifice," check out a recap here.
This week's episode of FlashForward, "Let No Man Put Asunder," opens two years before the blackout. Mark welcomes the new FBI agents, including Demetri, Janis, Al(!), and Marcy, to the force. He tells them that they will be asked to make sacrifices, often anonymously, but that they will always do the right thing. Every time. The new recruits are given their partner assignments. Demetri is assigned to Vreede, while Al gets Benford. Demetri begs Al to switch so he can work with the "legend," Mark. Al relents to the request. Janis tells them that she's been assigned to intelligence, and Marcy has to report to Janis, even though she scored higher than Janis in their agency exams. Her fellow newbies tell her that she shouldn't worry about her position, she's the smartest one of all of them,...

Let's face it — as wonderful as last week's Fringe was, it didn't do so great in the ratings. "Peter" only managed to score 5.83 million viewers, with a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 rating. That's kind of paltry when compared to earlier episodes of the season. January's "The Bishop Revival" got much higher ratings than that.
However, last night's Fringe showed a slight rebound that we can attribute to the fact that "Peter" was a return from a very long hiatus. "Olivia. In the Lab. With the Revolver" received 6.46 million viewers (though, oddly enough, the 18-49 rating stayed the same). This rebound is slight, but it does mean that there is hope for the series to make at least a partial recovery from the hiatus-induced ratings hemorrhage.
Meanwhile, FlashForward wasn't so lucky. Despite last night's episode "Queen Sacrifice" having several huge revelations and a great twist, the episode only improved menially,...

Episode Title: "Queen Sacrifice"
Written By: Byron Balasco & Timothy J. Lea
Story: Agent Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) and Miles Vogel (Michael Ealy) begin to suspect that a mole has infiltrated the FBI. The two of them put their differences aside and bring the rest of the agency under federal investigation, unveiling one traitor in the process while at least one other stays hidden in the shadows.
Meanwhile, Keiko Arahida (Yuko Takeuchi) and Bryce Varley (Zachary Knighton) continue their star-crossed search for one another in Los Angeles, though the law interferes with Keiko while Bryce has to confront his feelings towards Nicole Kirby (Peyton List).
The Mole Is A Hawk: Another episode where you have to stick around until the end, "FlashForward" made one of its most surprising and disappointing reveals yet, as Janis Hawk (Christine Woods) is a mole working against the FBI. Benford, Demetri Noh (John Cho) and the others aren't aware,...

If there was any chance of FlashForward getting renewed for a second season, it's a significantly smaller chance now. ABC's hope for a Lost replacement has utterly failed in terms of viewership. Though the initial drop could possibly be blamed on the three-and-a-half-month hiatus between "A561984" and "Revelation Zero," the episode "Better Angels" proved that FlashForward likely will not be renewed beyond its first season. Mark Benford shouldn't be worrying about another blackout — we'll never see it happen. Not when new episodes of the show are getting 5.07 million viewers.
If you're not sure how bad 5.07 million viewers is, let me put it this way: it's a loss of over one million viewers from last week's episode, "Blowback." 6.17 viewers tune in last week, and 1.1 million decided not to return. This is very bad news for the show. Very. Bad. News.
It's a pity, really, especially considering the surge in quality that FlashForward's gotten.

Episode Title: "Better Angels"
Written By: Scott M. Gimple & Ian Goldberg
Story: Demetri Noh (John Cho), Janis Hawk (Christine Woods), Miles Vogel (Michael Ealy) and Simon Campos (Dominic Monaghan) travel to Somalia to research what they believe to be a contained blackout event from 1991. Meanwhile, Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) does his best to figure out what his daughter Charlie saw in her flash-forward, but in order to find out, he'll need the help of his wife Olivia (Sonya Walger).
Saving the Best for Last: Sometimes, you need to stick around until the very end of an episode in order to make it worthwhile. "Better Angels" was one such episode, where just about every single important beat collided at the very end. Not exactly the best way to pace out an episode, but hey, I'm just a blogger — what do I know?
