A case where the prospective in-laws need a good old sock on the beezer!

In this Educational Pictures short, the boss' secretary is in love with the boss' son and they are planning on getting married. But before this, they plan on having the boss over for dinner to meet her mother. Unfortunately, earlier on that same day, the father and mother have a nasty altercation...not realizing who the other person is. When it's time for dinner, both parents explode at each other and it looks like the marriage is off...and soon the fiancees sneak away to elope without their parents' permission. And, foolishly, the parents call the police and the mother claims the boyfriend abducted her daughter...and soon the police give chase as they think it's a kidnapping. Along the way, the crazy parents cause all sorts of mayhem! And the ending...well, you just have to see that for yourself!

This is NOT a subtle film and the chase is filled with all sorts of nutty but funny sight gags. And the ending, which I won't ruin, is a hoot. Well made and funny.

Cute "Educational" two reel comedy about young couple trying to get married despite parents interference.

A lot of "Educational" comedies aren't, aren't educational and aren't funny. So I started watching with low expectations, which is a good place to start with this one. The first piece of business that surprised me was the opening scene where a young pretty secretary gets a call from her fiance about having his father and her mother finally meet for the first time to get their approval before getting hitched. As they are talking and looking into the candle-stick phone's mouth piece they see each other faces talking back to them...! You have to see it to believe it. Next we meet the parents, hey! That would be a good title for another... oh forget it. That's been used. Well anyway not to spoil the rest of the short the parents finally meet and it turns out they already know and hate each other! Soooo.... the young couple decide to elope and their parents are in hot pursuit causing more damage than your average low budget 2-reeler on the way. The ending at the sheriffs office is a shocker so try and find this cutie if you can. (Just don't expect an educational comedy.)
