Powerful...
civilwarbumm13 May 2003
As screened at the BlueRidge Southwest Virginia Vision Film Festival: THE NEST, considering it's short length, is powerful -- a very well-drawn, realistic portrayal of the timeless, unchanging aspects of warfare. This basic story of the foot soldier could have been set in any war, in any period of history, and still ring true. I understand it was originally set in WW1 before the producers changed the venue, this proves my point easily. This characteristic makes it a film with a universal appeal. We feel every uncomfortable inconvenience and painful situation that infantry soldiers suffer when confronting an anonymous enemy in the harshest of conditions. In this case, it is the sudden threat of death that is pervasive, and the infantrymen (and actors) bear up admirably. The best and worst characteristics of human spirit are brought out under such inhumane conditions, and the film presents an honest and unwavering portrayal of this phenomenon. The simple yet electrifying ending is a stirring comment on the indomitable human spirit. Highly recommended at a film festival near you.

The unforgotten war that my Paw Pal fought in.

The Nest 1999 This is a short action war film about the unforgotten war Korean War that my Paw Pal fought in. A company of soldiers trapped in a trench nothing more than to protect them from enemy sniper near a Nest. Soldiers go out to The Nest to help their fallen comrades but if they go out there they are basically in no return back to their lines. With a all star independent cast and the cast from Wicked Spring my favorite movie with my favorite actor DJ Perry. This is the film that helped financing their Epic Civil War movie "Wicked Spring" 2003. Actors Terry Jernigan DJ Perry, Mark Lacy, and Brian Merrick and also introducing Nathan Blackburn. I think that Mark Lacy and DJ Perry were the best actors in the film. Their performances on the screen prove that they can act and know how to do this in the business for film making and that they can be the top actors in the Independent field. I totally recommend this film for Independent fans and any history buff of all wars.
