- Film sobre la vida del cantautor José Alfredo Jiménez.
- Biography of one of the most famous and loved Mexican Composers and Singers. Many of his songs were recorded with the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan. His songs have been recorded by other famous singers in Mexico and around the world such as Vicente Fernandez, Julio Iglesias, Luis Miguel, Pedro Fernandez, Javier Solis, Alejandro Fernandez, Aida Cuevas, Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete and many more.
Born on January 19, 1926 in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico, Jose Alfredo Jimenez Sandoval wanted to be a soccer player and at the same time was writing songs. He wrote over 300 songs and many are still unknown. He married Paloma and wrote the song "Paloma querida" (Dear Paloma) to the woman that would become his wife until his death in November 23, 1973 at the age of 47 in Mexico City. His death was caused by excess of alcohol. His house in Dolores Hidalgo became a museum which is still open (as of 2023) and there is a tomb at the local cemetery with an enormous hat and a giant beautifully colored sarape which contains a lot of his songs engraved in it.
His song "El rey" (The king) was one of his most famous songs and it also became a top hit for another famous Mariachi singer, Vicente Fernandez along with many other songs by Jose Alfredo.
The movie does not represent a perfect biography and uses a lot of silly comedy but it is still enjoyable because of the soundtrack with over 25 of his songs, most sang by him.
There is another movie on the works (as of 2022) for another biography. His son Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Jr. died in 2021 and he was in charge of the project. His sister Paloma is doing the necessary adjustments for the production to continue.
