For the longest time, Deathstroke was a rather obscure DC character. But, thanks in large part to Arrow, the world’s deadliest mercenary permeated the mainstream, with appearances in video games such as Batman: Arkham Origins and animated films like Son of Batman also doing wonders to help his cause.
Much to our delight, Slade Wilson’s future is looking brighter than ever now, as the character recently appeared in a post-credits scene for Justice League, in addition to Warner Bros. kicking around the idea for a solo film. That’s all hugely exciting, especially because Joe Manganiello is absolutely perfect in the role and it seems that he has a bright future in the DC Extended Universe.
There’s the standalone outing we just mentioned, which is being helmed by director Gareth Evans and is looking to Gods of War, Tony S. Daniel and Sandu Florea’s comic series...

Justice League 2 might take some time to get off the ground, but we outline some possible scenarios that could help.
The box office numbers on Justice League are in, and the prognosis isn't good. Not only did what should have been the crown jewel in the Dceu fail to crack $100 million in its opening weekend in America, its final numbers may see it losing between $50 and $100 million for Warner Bros, according to some reports. But just because Justice League is off to a rocky start, it is far from the end of the Dceu.
It's going to be a difficult road, though. We're likely to lose Ben Affleck as Batman sooner than later, and with nothing else on the Dceu calendar for him at the moment, we may have seen the last of Henry Cavill's Superman, too (although we're holding out hope he does at least one more,...

How important to the Dceu are those Justice League post credits scenes? Spoilers await...
This article contains major Justice League spoilers.
The Dceu has deliberately avoided post-credits scenes since the dark days of Green Lantern. It's been a smart move to keep away from one of the hallmarks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with Justice League, they just couldn't resist. They make up for lost time, too, as Justice League has not one, but two post-credits scenes. One is just for fun, but the other has larger implications for the Dceu down the line. Let's take a look....
The first sequence
This is just good fun, and few things say 'DC Universe' quite like a friendly race between Superman and Flash.

Spoilers below for Justice League.
Despite, uh, less than superreviews for Justice League, the DC Universe is barreling forward, it seems, if the two -- yes, two -- post-credit scenes are any indication. (Y'know, in addition to all the seeds planted in the actual movie for Queen Atlanna, Darkseid and Green Lantern Corps.)
While the DC brain trust has tended away from adding tags on the movies -- "'I don't know, can I do that?' Because Marvel does that," Zack Snyder once said -- Justice League isn't the first film to come with bonus scenes. But while the stinger attached to Suicide Squad was mostly just puzzling, there's quite a bit to speculate over here.

Mid-Credits Scene: The scene itself doesn't require much explaining: Barry Allen aka The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Superman (Henry Cavill) meet in some remote location to race. "It's not like a competition, you know," Barry...

The Black Hand is set to be the new Leonardo DiCaprio project...
Leonardo Dicapio, who played a street tough in Martin Scorsese’s early New York City crime drama Gangs Of New York, will again clean up those city streets in the upcoming The Black Hand. DiCaprio will produce and star in an adaptation of the book by Stephan Talty for Paramount.
The Black Hand: The Epic War Between A Brilliant Detective And The Deadliest Secret Society In American History will be published in April. The story is set in New York City in crime wave of the summer of 1903. A group of new immigrant criminals was preying on lower Manhattan and leaving a calling card with the figure of a Black Hand at crime scenes. DiCaprio will play Detective Joseph Petrosino, who was called 'Italian Sherlock Holmes', who took the fight against crime from New York to Sicily.

Like him or lump him, James Franco continues to be one of the busiest bees in Hollywood – not just in front of the camera, but also on the other side of the lens, where he’s developed a repertoire of producing and filmmaking skills. That streak will continue via Zeroville and The Masterpiece, a feature film primed to recount the story behind the cinematic car crash known as The Room.
No word yet on a release date for that one, but the latest development to arise from the Franco camp involves a new four-picture deal with Demian Gregory which will, according to Deadline, kick into gear with The Game.
Not to be confused with David Fincher’s unnerving thriller of the same name, The Game is to be based on Neil Strauss’ New York Times bestseller, The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists, which has simmered on the...

James Franco is typically attracted to adaptations from literary giants like Faulkner and Steinbeck, but his newest lead role is in a film based on Neil Strauss’s controversial but best-selling memoir/ how-to guide, “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists,” about Strauss’s experience under the tutelage of professional seducers.
Strauss, a journalist, stumbled across the pick-up-artist community while working on an article, and ended up attending a boot camp that taught “uber-geeky” men how to pick up women. It was there that Strauss met his wing-man and guru, Mystery, who Franco will be portraying in the film.

As Strauss says, “Nearly every person I meet has a strong opinion on The Game, whether they’ve read it or not,” and it will be interesting to see how the film portrays and deals with its polarizing content.

James Franco and Demian Gregory have entered into a new agreement to produce four feature films together, with the first film they will produce being an adaptation of “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists” by Neil Strauss. Strauss’ book chronicles his real-life experiences in the world of pick up artists, most notably with the Pua known as Mystery. The book is part-memoir and part-how-to-guide for those who wish to learn how to get better at meeting women. Franco will star as Mystery, as well as executive produce alongside his partner Vince Jolivette. Gregory will also serve as an executive.

Sorta Spoiler Notes: Today I’m discussing the latest Suicide Squad reprint, Rogues, and I’ll disclose some plot points. The stories were originally published in the late 80s so a spoiler shouldn’t be needed, but just in case you didn’t read them back then and are considering catching up now, you been warned!
One of the nice side-effects of the upcoming Suicide Squad movie is that DC is pushing into Tpb print my original run. The latest volume comes out April 12 and is entitled Rogues and it’s maybe my favorite one so far. It reprints issues 17 through 25, including the Annual and a Bronze Tiger solo story by Larry Ganem and Peter Krause.

Every time a four-color property moves from print to other media, changes are made, mostly a result of the different medium being employed. Sometimes the changes stagger the imagination while others are subtle and acceptable. Warner Animation has more often than not been incredibly faithful to the source material, resulting in some of the most satisfying comics-to-screen adaptations.
As a result, the anticipation for a Blu-ray release of the excellent Justice League Unlimited has been high and finally, last week, Warner Archive released the show in a three-disc collection. The series, which ran July 31, 2004 – May 13, 2006, is the follow-up to the equally wonderful Justice League.
While the original series focused on the traditional original members of the Jla, the new series expanded its roster to just about every hero from the DC Universe. For many viewers, it was the first time they were exposed to many of these colorful characters. For we fanboys,...

John Ostrander is the man responsible for the modern day depiction of the Suicide Squad as we know them. His 1987 reboot of the team has become what people think of when they think of the them, completely wiping away the original 1959 incarnation of the group. So with all the news coming out of Warner Bros lately, regarding the cast and plans for their big budget film based on the group of villains, it was only natural that someone would reach out to Ostrander for his thoughts.
Ostrander seems downright giddy about the film, which is nice to see. Relations between comic book writers and the Hollywood productions based on their work can be tricky, but Ostrander is fully onboard with everything he's seen and heard.
"I was pleased, but I wouldn't have guessed that it would have been one of the properties that they would do quite so quickly," he told Comic Book Resources.

The Glee kids hit the big 100th episode milestone this week, which means it’s time for a look back. Remember when Rachel thought she was pregnant? Remember when Brittany had a web series titled Fondue for Two? Remember when there was a shooting at McKinley? Never Forget.
Even a casual viewer of the show knows this musical dramedy goes through plot faster than the Glee kids go through crushes on each other. We don’t know what’s in store for the McKinley kids as they all become Broadway stars in New York (Rip,...

So the holiday season is in full swing and we’ve gotten a few inches of snow around here. Something doesn’t feel right though. I can’t quite put my finger on it but the seasonal wackiness just hasn’t kicked in yet. Maybe it’s lulling me into a false sense of security. Maybe it’s lurking just around the corner, crouched in the dark, glaring at me with dead eyes of coal, drooling in anticipation (egg nog saliva, of course) and tightly gripping a peppermint candy cane of knee-capping density. Or maybe it’s been inside me all along, like a wriggling parasite of feverish, materialistic glee, waiting for the right moment to paralyze me with a flood of giddy, unsolicited warmth and I find myself suddenly compelled to buy gifts and watch ‘It’s A Beautiful Life’. Or maybe ‘Gremlins’.

If you were looking at the upcoming slate of Hobbit films and thinking “that’s a sizeable amount of Tolkien material, but I am not satisfied with this ride ever ending,” the universe is throwing you just a little bone to tide you over until another facet of the Lotr series is probably announced. Fox Searchlight and Cherin Entertainment are currently working on a J.R.R. Tolkien biopic that will span the author’s life and target the moments that led him to write “The Hobbit” in 1937 and begin “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy in 1954. The tentatively titled Tolkien, written by David Gleeson (Cowboys and Angels) focuses on the parts of his life that proved formative to creating Middle Earth, like his days at Pembroke College and as a soldier during World War I; the author, who was born in South Africa in 1892 and raised in England, was deeply affected by his experiences in the Great War...

Bring on the bad guys! You can add Dr. Anthony Ivo—creator of the power-copying Amazo robot—to the list of villains set to torment Oliver Queen in "Arrow's" second season. The show has cast Dylan Neal in the role, marking his return to the televised DC Universe following a two episode stint on "Smallville" in 2009 as corrupt District Attorney Ray Sacks.
Fans might also recognize Neal as Hermes from the film "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief," or as Doug Witter on "Dawson's Creek." The experienced actor will be bringing Dr. Ivo's menace to life in a four-episode arc, starting with episode five, "League of Assassins." Screen Crush, the site that broke the news, reported that Neal might even be back for more following his initial storyarc.

In a controversial move, DC decided to forego publishing its regular line of books and put out 52 one-shot stories featuring some of its best villains. The one-shots range from extremely popular (Joker, Lex Luthor, Brainiac) to the newer and more obscure (Relic, Shadow Thief). They feature some veteran creators and some who have barely drawn a comic. Each “Villains Month” book will get a decimal point after a regular DC Comic. For example, Joker will feature in Batman 23.1, Riddler will feature in Batman 23.2 etc. The first issue of the new DC event Forever Evil will come out the same month as the villain one-shots. It is a direct follow up to “Trinity War” and will be written by Geoff Johns and drawn by David Finch. There are quite a few “Villains Month” books, but the following comics either have great creative teams, continue a compelling storylines, or are simply intriguing.

While Marvel’s latest Event is a well put-together, if emotionless, story, DC’s latest – Trinity War – is stupid, badly written, and barely makes any sense and is by far the worse of the two.
Trinity War was initially sold as a conflict between the three Justice teams: Justice League, Justice League of America, and Justice League Dark, with the mysterious Pandora somehow caught up in the midst of it all. What the story of Trinity War has become instead is Superman killing Doctor Light, a character whom many might remember with distaste as being the rapist from Identity Crisis and who was rebooted in the New 52 as a family man/scientist who – just before Trinity War kicked off – turned out to have light powers. The Event comics since then have seen the various characters putting aside their differences and looking for a reason why Superman wasn’t to blame...

Justice League Dark 22
Writer: Jeff Lemire
Artist: Mikel Janin
Colorist: Jeromy Cox
Publisher: DC Comics
It’s been done tons of times before in superhero comics and films. The heroes have some misunderstandings and punch each other around until someone sees reason. Then, they team up, become some iteration of “Superfriends”, and pound the supervillain that’s been either manipulating them or attacking them into a pulp thus saving the day and/or the planet. This formula might eventually happen in “Trinity War”, but for now, the event continues to be a wild ride. All three Justice Leagues collide in this issue, which has its fair share of fisticuffs ably drawn by Mikel Janin, but most of the conflict stems from interpersonal relationships. Many of these characters have histories with each other, and these old wounds are re-opened in Justice League Dark #22.
