Suburban wife discovers love, sex and orgies
kultguru21 August 2002
This one is classic 60s/70s soft porn. Mrs Stone wonders why her husband has been going to lots of parties lately and why he's "no good for sex for a week after". Conceding, Mr Stone takes her to the 'party', a full on orgy of sex, bodypainting, skinnydipping and other "perversions". The orgy and it's aftermath take up the remainder of the film. Gays, lesbians, and Edward D. Wood Jr. as a rather shy transvestite. Wood's contribution to the movie is rather sad. He doesn't look well and at times seems a little disoriented. But leaving that aside, the orgy scenes are interesting, with a diversity of body types that you don't see in modern films. As an example of sexploitation movies of the era, it's an interesting artefact.

Trivial Pursuit for a film hardly worth pursuing
charlytully24 October 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Building on what the Aussie said more than six years ago in this lonely comment section, this movie's title song (which is used for both opening & closing the flick) is perhaps the essential "artifact" offered (fast-forwarding through the middle 74 minutes of this 79-minute show eliminates 99% "tease" and maybe 1% action--and WHAT exactly happened in the heavily edited scene between "the hostess" and her parrot?). Extremely telling is that 90% of this exploitation film's cast and crew worked on NO other movies or TV shows, including most of the featured players. Though former U.S. Marine and MRS. STONE'S THING director Joseph F. Robertson soon changed his calling card to "Adele Robbins," under which he directed DEBBIE DOES DALLAS III and a string of other pornos, PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE director Ed Wood was NOT the only notable to "act" in this mishmash. For those not fast-forwarding, the background bartender (Bob Watson) played PeeWee as an 8-year-old in 1938's BOYSTOWN, and one of the 18 guys glued into their whitey-tighties throughout the "orgy" party is John Boylan, who went on to become Mayor Dwayne Milford in TV's Twin Peaks.

I Can't Unwatch This
Mvpkinger14 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I only bought this movie because the late, great Ed Wood appears in it. There's lots of nudity and simulated sex in this softcore movie. George Stone (Victor Rich) is a middle-aged business executive who goes to swinging parties. His wife Martha (Karen Johnson) wants George to take her to one of those orgies/parties. To give you an idea of how good their acting is, this is the only movie that Victor Rich and Karen Johnson ever appeared in. About half an hour into the film, at the party, an obviously drunk Ed Wood is in a bedroom with a parrot. Ed starts taking off his clothes, and starts putting on pantyhose, then a bra. The movie keeps cutting back and forth between Ed and the party, so the viewer won't have to take in that sight all at once. At one point, a woman walks in, looks astonished, then walks out. Later, a man walks in, and Ed looks ashamed to be wearing a bra and pantyhose. The man tells him that it's all right, he looks nice, and to keep putting on women's clothing. "I'm game for anything, after all that booze," Ed blurts out. Whatever they paid Ed to appear in this movie wasn't enough. Looking drunk, disoriented, disheveled, pale and bloated, Ed the transvestite was a very sorry sight to see. As for Mr. and Mrs. Stone, they learned the error of their ways. At the end of the movie, they decide to stop going to swinging parties, and start a family. Thankfully, there was no sequel to "The Sensuous Wife" called "The Sensuous Mother."

Wood The Cross-Dresser

Mrs. Stone's Thing (1970)

* 1/2 (out of 4)

Mrs. Stone (Karen Johnson) is a bored housewife who wants to know what type of parties her husband (Victor Rich) goes to. Whenever he returns home he's worn out sexually so she manages to talk her way into going to one and quickly learns that it's an orgy.

MRS. STONE'S THING comes from director Joseph F. Robertson and is best remembered today for featuring a performance by Edward D. Wood, Jr. Robertson had directed Wood the previous year in LOVE FEAST but this film here has Wood in a minor role so fans of his should be warned that he doesn't play the lead here. For the most part this here is an ultra-cheap and somewhat poorly-written sexploitation title that doesn't have much going for it.

If you're expecting any sort of plot then you can forget it because there's very little to none. You'd think that the set-up of having a wife visit an orgy party would lead to something but it really doesn't. If your idea of entertainment is a plot-less film with a lot of nudity then you've come to the right place because there's a lot of that. The 76-minute running time features a lot of very pretty girls running around without any clothes on.

Jack King gets credited as "Big Fat Man" and he honestly steals the picture as he's trying to seduce a big woman. The two of them have a lot of "adventures" throughout the running time and it's actually pretty funny. As far as Wood goes, he's basically playing a man who likes to wear women's clothing and we get several scenes of him changing and doing things like that. In all honesty he's actually pretty good in the picture but it's too bad he wasn't given a tad bit more to do.
