La greve des apaches review

Not a bad idea for a comedy short - career criminals go on strike, leaving the justice system with nothing to do - but Arnaud and Bosetti don't seem t know how to make the most of it. Some scenes don't make a lot of sense, even with explanatory intertitles.

They Don't Get It, Do They?

Warning: Spoilers
The lower classes strike, and their signs are in the languages of every nation this Gaumont short might be seen in. The judges are too busy playing guitars to do anything. The legislature's plan to make one cole-porter rich doesn't work, and neither does the plan of the fat wives of the aristos to seduce the working man back to the social norm.

This radical and funny comedy by Étienne Arnaud and Romeo Bosetti shows that the film makers knew who went to see their shows, and that the staid and conservative people running France had no idea of what was going on in the minds of the lower classes.
