• Continuity: When they first get the CB radio, the antenna switches from the left to the right side of the Newport and back again (the film is flipped). When the antenna is seen on the right side, the rear bumper of the car appears smooth with the prominent dents missing.
  
  
• Continuity: When Rusty Nail rams the car against the tree, the driver's side window shatters, leaving only a jagged piece of glass. Later in the scene, the window is restored (yet cracked), then disappears again.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: Just before Rusty Nail crashes through the ice truck, the cable used to pull the truck apart can be seen being dragged behind it.
  
  

• Continuity: As Lewis, Venna, and Fuller are driving out to the corn field, Fuller is wearing a blue shirt with a brown jacket. While running through the corn field away from Rusty Nail, however, Fuller is wearing a cop's hat and cop's jacket, obviously from the original ending.
  
  
• Factual errors: This is supposed to take place during summer vacation, yet the corn is at harvest height.
  
  
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Venna emerges from the gas station with a hat for Lewis, she is wearing a new blue T-shirt that is long and bunches at the bottom. Later when they are in the bar, it shows Venna wearing the same T-shirt but noticeably shorter. Several hours passed between those two scenes; in that time she may have shortened the T-shirt using a pair of scissors before going to the bar, or she may have simply changed into a smaller blue T-shirt.
  
  
• Continuity: When Lewis and Fuller are driving along the road near the beginning of the movie, they are shown one at a time from the center console of the car. The ground outside is moving much faster out Lewis's window than out Fuller's.
  
  
• Continuity: After the teens have the broken tail light on their car fixed, they pull over by a corn field following Rusty Nail's instructions and the tail light is not working again.
  
  
• Continuity: It's mentioned twice in dialogue that Lewis is attending college in Berkeley. However, his plane ticket is from Los Angeles to Newark.
  
  
• Continuity: Because of re-shoots, the dates are inconsistent. The insert of Lewis's plane ticket shows he purchased it 12 DEC 99 for a 12 APR (2000) flight, yet when Fuller signs for the release of his effects, he has dated the form "6-6-99".
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When the Police truck arrives at the motel, you can see the reflection of the camera.
  
  
• Continuity: Although the car has two seats up front. Fuller is in the passenger seat sitting next to the window. But when the three pull out of the truck stop, Lewis is sitting in the middle of the front right next to Venna.
  
  
• Continuity: Rusty Nail's truck changes to different models in some shots: Freightliner and Peterbuilt.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: Obvious stunt double for Lewis when he looks at the reflection on the pay phone from the ice man behind him.
  
  
• Continuity: When Lewis and Fuller first make contact with Rusty Nail on the CB, as the camera cuts back and forth between Lewis and Fuller in the car, the door lock on Lewis's side of the car is alternately up and down.
  
  
• Errors in geography: When Lewis calls the sheriff's department at the gas station with the ice truck driver he asks for the Rawlins County Sheriff in Table Rock. Table Rock is in Sweetwater County and Rawlins is in Carbon County. There is no Rawlins County in Wyoming.
  
  
• Errors in geography: In the scene where Fuller and Lewis walk naked into the truck stop it is supposed to be set in Nebraska. Yet when they are walking into the truck stop you can clearly see mountains in the background.
  
  
• Errors in geography: Table Rock is depicted as being bigger than it is in real life. In reality it is no more than an encampment for oil workers.
  
  
• Continuity: When Candy Cane loses connection with Rust Nail there is a shot showing the car driving but there is no Ariel.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Fuller and Venna are outside the motel room, Fuller takes her key and uses it to open the lock. When he turns the key, the whole knob turns, indicating that the knob was never locked. (See Goodfellas (1990) for the same mistake.)
