Satine had and died from Tuberculosis, or TB. TB is generally an infection of the lungs. In the past it was more commonly called Consumption. It can be spread through coughing, sneezing, kissing, speaking and spitting. This means that, sadly, Christian is probably the most likely character to contract TB and, ironically, the Duke is least likely.

Yes they are. They even had vocal training for quite some time before filming began to do so. Some behind the scenes information about this can be seen in the special features of the 2 disc special edition dvd of the movie.

Please note that the high note during the song "Hindi Sad Diamonds" may or may not be Nicole. Apparently some people have heard or read it was her while others have heard or read it was not.

There is no definite answer, however Baz Luhrmann suggests that Christian was around the age of 21 as he was leaving home for the first time. Satine is probably older, around the age of 24 or 25. She was actually probably one of the older ones there, as most performers would have been about 19 or 20. You must remember, in those days to be in your 30s was to be middle aged. There is very little chance either Christian or Satine are over 30.

Moulin Rouge is simply 'Red Windmill'. Moulin = windmill. Rouge = red.

Courtesy of the trivia section on the mainpage:

"Originally, the green fairy was going to be a long-haired muscle man with a giant sitar and Ozzy Osbourne was hired to provide the vocals. Eventually it was changed to the current "Tinker Bell" incarnation, played by Kylie Minogue, but Osbourne still gives voice to the fairy's guttural scream when it turns evil."

So there you have it.
