Carriers Carried to DVD this December

3 November 2009 11:08 AM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Paramount's Carriers is coming to rental DVD on December 8th, 2009, from Paramount Home Entertainment with a full DVD release expected in four to six weeks afterwards.

Co-starring Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly), Emily VanCamp (“Brothers & Sisters”), and Emmy®-nominee Chris Meloni (“Law and Order: Svu”), Carriers is a terrifying journey into a world where laws and rules no longer apply and no one can be trusted – not even your friends. The film was written and directed by Alex and David Pastor.

Synopsis

A deadly virus has spread across the globe. Contagion is everywhere, no one is safe, and no one can be trusted. Four young attractive people race through the back roads of the American West to the pounding beat of a vacation soundtrack. Their aim is to retreat to a secluded Utopian beach in the Gulf of Mexico, where they could peacefully wait out the pandemic and survive the apocalyptic disease. »

USA getting involved in Covert Affairs with Piper Perabo

31 July 2009 12:00 PM, PDT | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

Filed under: Other Drama Shows, Pickups and Renewals, Casting, Reality-Free

Piper Perabo's most recognizable roles have been in the Cheaper by the Dozen films, as well as a turn in Coyote Ugly. And yet, hers is one of those names unique enough to remember. Someone at USA recalled Perabo well enough to cast her in Covert Affairs, a pilot about a young CIA trainee abruptly called up as a field operative. While she thinks it's because she's so awesome and all, it turns out that it has more to do with some secret in her past.

In other words, she may be woefully unprepared for the cases she finds herself involved in. At least she'll have Christopher Gorham (Harper's Island) on hand to help her navigate, though I wouldn't trust him. Plus, he's blind which limits his abilities in the field.

New Carriers Trailer Online

3 July 2009 11:00 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

It's been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years, which is not usually a good sign, but the disease / paranoia / horror / thriller Carriers actually looks rather good, based on this new trailer. The premise is all laid out pretty thoroughly in the trailer, which sees four friends, including Star Trek's Chris Pine and, er, Coyote Ugly's Piper Perabo, on the run to safety after an apocalyptic plague sweeps the world. With clearly laid-out rules for survival, the quartet think they've got things figured out - until it becomes clear that their methods are not infallible, and that the danger may be worse than they thought.A cynic might think that this was shelved until the release of Star Trek made Pine a star, but in any case we're encouraged by this new trailer (we missed an earlier, similar one that came out on a busier news »

Piper Perabo joins the CIA in USA's "Covert Affairs"

3 July 2009 10:00 AM, PDT | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

Since winning our lesbian hearts over in films like Imagine Me and You (and possibly farther back, if you loved the dramatics of Lost and Delirious or the bar dancing in Coyote Ugly), Piper Perabo hasn't always made the best career choices.

There was that awful waste of a great cast, Because I Said So, where she starred as one of Diane Keaton's daughters, alongside Mandy Moore and Lauren Graham. (Yes, it still sucked.)

Then there was Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Enough said.

But now I'm feeling as if Piper is back on the right track, as The Hollywood Reporter writes that she's been cast as the lead in the new show Covert Affairs. She'll play Annie Walker, as an ass-kicking CIA trainee who speaks six languages and "excels at any endeavor she undertakes." Yes, that sounds like a great role her.

The show will be a pilot for the USA Network, »

Piper Perabo Tapped to New USA Pilot

2 July 2009 1:27 AM, PDT | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Piper Perabo is crossing the bridge to TV world by snapping up a lead role in USA Network's new spy thriller. Titled "Covert Affairs", the original series by the cable network will put Perabo in the position as a CIA trainee named Annie Walker.

In taking the role, the "Coyote Ugly" actress has to learn to speak 6 languages because her character has the ability to do so. Besides, Annie is a character that excels at anything she does. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walker joins the CIA while still reeling over a mysterious ex-boyfriend who appears to be of particular interest to her new bosses. She vows never to let herself be hurt again, but that proves to be a tall order.

The project is not yet given a green light but the pilot order is expected to be given in a couple of weeks. While the execs have found their Annie, »

A Carriers trailer surfaces... again

1 July 2009 12:27 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

On January 26th, we shared with you a high-res trailer that was circulating the 'net for the long-dormant film, Carriers. At the request of Paramount Vantage, we pulled the trailer from our article, and had nearly forgotten about the film until a release date was finally announced for September.

Now another trailer for the film has surfaced on YouTube, and rather than take the time to post it ourselves and have to yank it again, we've got it embedded for you below the break.

Starring Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly), Chris Pine (Star Trek's new Kirk), Emily VanCamp (Everwood), Lou Taylor Pucci (Fanboys), and Christopher Meloni (Law & Order), Carriers tells the story of four friends fleeing a viral outbreak while falling victim to their own fear and paranoia. The film will open on September 4th.

P.S. - That original trailer is continuing to circulate and is on YouTube as well. »

Ed McMahon, Rip: The infamous Johnny Carson sidekick has sadly passed away. At the age of 86 Ed McMahon died on June 23rd, 2009 at the Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center. Recently, McMahon has had many health problems, including pneumonia. Not only has the public been made aware in the decline of McMahon’s health, they have also known about his money problems; including his battle to pay his mortgage, costing him approximately $644,000 debt with the bank, and then being sued by numerous insurance companies, which was later reached in a settlement for $7million. Thankfully enough, the public will always remember Ed McMahon as the cheerful and laughable subordinate to Carson. Let’s hear it one last time for remembrance sake: “Heeeeeeeeeeeere’s Johnny!” Antichrist the Video Game: Director Lars Von Trier’s latest flop film that was laughed at during it’s screening at Cannes Film Festival will become a video game. »

Jerry Bruckheimer Dishes on Confessions of a Shopaholic

The super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer talks about his foray into the romantic comedy world

When one thinks of producer Jerry Bruckheimer, one things top-shelf big-budget action extravaganza films... and even a romantic comedy like Confessions of a Shopaholic, which hits the shelves on DVD and Blu-ray on June 23. Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has provided us with an interview they conducted with the producer, and here's what he had to say.

Is Confessions of a Shopaholic the perfect credit crunch movie?

Jerry Bruckheimer: I think it is. It's a tale of redemption. It's a tale of a girl who is going on a journey, who makes mistakes as most young people do... the credit card companies love sending you credit cards so you exceed your limit and they can charge you interest. And this is a girl who overcomes her problems and figures a way out of her financial crisis, »

5 Questions With: Maria Bello

4 June 2009 4:00 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

For years, Maria Bello has been building up one of the most eclectic resumes in Hollywood -- with roles ranging from sassy bar owner ('Coyote Ugly') to loving wife ('A History of Violence') to ass-kicking action star ('The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor').

With the inspired-by-a-true-story drama 'Downloading Nancy' (in select theaters June 5), she takes on her riskiest part yet, playing a suicidal sexual abuse victim whose only source of happiness is cutting herself. And, while 'Nancy' is clearly not the feel-good movie of the year, it just may be Bello's finest work to date.

We chatted with the gregarious actress from the set of her new Adam Sandler comedy 'Grown Ups' to find out how 'Nancy' helped Bello exorcise her own demons, why Kevin James always gets the gorgeous gals, and why she's (almost) always up for getting naked.Filed under: Celebrity »

‘Jordan and Bear’ Rob Amuck in Sweet Cinematic Style

17 April 2009 9:32 AM, PDT | Tilzy.tv | See recent Tilzy.TV news »

There are some movies that you know are going to suck after only watching the first twenty to thirty seconds. You watch them anyways, maybe just to prove that you were right but hoping you weren’t. There are also movies that you know are going to be great just from the opening scene. I don’t know why (Is it the way the opening credits come across? The opening music? The cinematography?), but there is, without a doubt something that causes you to almost immediately know a show will be lamer than Coyote Ugly or great like True Romance. Jordan & Bear, an ongoing web-serial presented by Phase Four Productions, has some of the characteristics that make you think, “Yeah, this is going to be some sweet stuff.” It starts with main character Jordan, played by series writer Christopher Zanti, talking on a pay phone at night, having a fairly innocent conversation. »

Film: Review: Confessions Of A Shopaholic

19 February 2009 2:00 PM, PST | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer doesn’t necessarily possess keen insight into the female psyche, but he’s a genius at pandering to the fantasies of a mass audience. Just as Bruckheimer’s Coyote Ugly delivered a hilariously transparent empowerment-through-skankiness message, his latest wad of cinematic cotton candy, Confessions Of A Shopaholic, allows audiences to vicariously experience the guilty thrill of indiscriminate spending, though they then get smacked with a timely but hypocritical message about the necessity of living within your means. And if there’s one thing Bruckheimer stands for, it’s thriftiness and financial self-discipline. The delightful Isla Fisher stars ... »

Carriers trailer surfaces online

25 January 2009 11:40 PM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Back in 2007 news dropped about a post-apocalyptic thriller called Carriers. Directed by Alex and David Pastor, that was about the last anyone had heard about the film until today. After collecting dust in the vaults of Paramount Vantage, and being long-listed in the "undated" section of Michael Gingold's Fear Film Forecast, the folks over at Quiet Earth got their hands on a trailer for the film, which you can see right here after the jump.

No release date has been set, but the trailer is the first sign that Carriers could be heading to a big or small screen at last. »

Trailer: Carriers Starring the New Kirk

25 January 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

At the studio's request we have removed this trailer. Sitting on the shelf somewhere in the vaults of Paramount is Carriers , a film produced in the wake of 28 Days Later that follows four pretty faces heading to the Gulf of Mexico to avoid a viral pandemic. Along this journey, their car breaks down and the real fun begins as they meet various, often dangerous, characters. Coyote Ugly 's Piper Perabo stars as does Chris Pine, the cat who's playing Kirk in this year's Star Trek . The question is: When is this coming out? Not a clue. Paramount's been sitting on Carriers for so long it seems to have become forgotten, which is unfortunate for filmmakers Àlex Pastor and David Pastor. Quiet Earth is hosting a trailer for the film, give it a look below and keep your eyes... »
