- Quotes
Quan Chi: [after Sub-Zero defeats the Elements blocking the entry into the Temple of Elements, Quan Chi takes the amulet] The amulet! I have Shinnok's amulet!
Sub-Zero: Who's amulet?
Quan Chi: He is my deity, ruler of the Netherrealm; And soon, destroyer of your Earthrealm.
Sub-Zero: What are you talking about?
Quan Chi: This amulet... it is the key to Shinnok's power as an Elder God. When returned to him, he will regain his powers and be free from the confines OF the Netherrealm.
Sub-Zero: I thought Shao Kahn was...
Quan Chi: Shao Kahn is nothing bu t a peasant ruler of a long dead realm! SHINNOK, is the destroyer of ALL realms, INCLUDING Kahn's Outworld!
Sub-Zero: Destroyer of all realms? You are insane! That amulet isn't worth the bronze it's molded from!
Quan Chi: Believe what you will, Sub-Zero. Goodbye, ninja.
[Quan Chi warps away to the Netherrealm]
- Alternate versionsThe version released on the Playstation has full video cut scenes. The Nintendo 64 version just has stills with text to advance the plot.
- ConnectionsEdited into MK5 - Mortal Combat - Sub Zero (1997)
The concept is great and so is the game play because the game has unique action sequences that will make you remember about the controls of MK and MK II. I truly enjoyed the fighting techniques because MK game-play have always been attractive for avid action and fighting games. The combo system is similar to MK III so you can't go wrong with the game-play.
I always thought I was playing a Chinese action movie. The scenarios are just great; dark, stylish, great atmosphere but best of all, a feeling of uncertainty when the evil characters appear.
The graphics are truly great! The digital graphics combined with 2D and 3D in some cases is really attractive and will make you enjoy the hard and difficult scenarios and enemies.
The sound is also pretty cool with martial arts music and some intense classical MK sounds.
My advice is, get this game but only if you are a fan of the MK games. Otherwise, play it with low expectations because if you are not into the world of MK, you will likely have a hard time trying to like it.
