It's very derivative of other Euro-cop movies, so much so that it's one
of those unofficial Italian "sequels" (like the "Django" movies and
"Zombi 2") to another movie, "Violent Naples", which I haven't seen.
But, what "Weapons of Death" has going for it is that it's so
entertaining and violent. We get lots of violent gunfights and plenty
of knife fights as well as just some good old fashioned police paranoia
when many suspect a respected cop is really crooked after he is spared
by the crime boss. This film also features some good music and strong
performances from the cast. "Weapons of Death" also benefits greatly
from Mario Caino's intense and engaging direction. All and all this is
a solid example of the Euro-crime film that fans of the genre will
enjoy. If movies like "Contraband", "Violent Rome" and Syndicate
Sadists" are your idea of quality crime cinema, "Weapons of Death: is
right up your alley.
