Simply the best
esbenpost19 April 2002
Skummelkrat must be mad. This is the best movie ever. A danish "gone with the wind" with spectacular action scenes and a story that just blows you away. We all carry a little Kim Skov inside us - a shy, misunderstood country boy who just wants to find love and approval. Seeing "Historien om Kim Skov" makes you wiser in so many ways - and stronger, too. I watched it back in elementary school. When the movie started, I was a boy. When it ended, I was a man. It is one of those rare film that has the power to transform you and make you aware of who you really are. If I should point at one weak thing about the film, though, it must be everything that happens in it. And yes, the actors too. Otherwise it is just brilliant. A clean 10 out of 10.

This movie really, really sucks !!!
Nick Adams_30 December 2000
This movie was shown to me 3 (I repeat 3 times!!!) during my 9 years in basic school. It`s a classic 70`s social-realistic thing about a 10-12 year old boy, who has to move to the city with his family when the family farm goes bust. In the city he is lonely and badly bullied by his schoolmates.

The point of the movie is that capitalist society sucks, and that we all should be nice to each other.

Personally I would rather had taken a beating then watch this movie even once.

What "Kim Skov" has done to my life...
disonant5 January 2006
This really is an absolutely horrible film. Not just because of the poor acting, the thin script and the not very subtle left wing angle on society. When I look at the other comments here I realise than I'm not the only one haunted by violent images of poor Kim Skov getting beaten up and humiliated by bullies in leather jackets. We really ought to form some sort of an organisation and file a lawsuit against the danish school system. I haven't watched this film since the 6'th grade, but still the images will let let go. This is what the danish school system has done to my life. Even here in 2006 i still expect that long grease haired bullies will drop by my workplace and give me a good bullying, or force me to steal my fathers cigarettes for them. I guess I could just buy the cigarettes though, but thats beside the point. "The story of Kim Skov" has defined my fears.

The worst movie ever made.
skummelkrat21 February 2000
This movie must be the worst movie ever. Ed Wood couldn't top this one if he tried. This movie about children being mean to one another was meant to make children realize the horror of that sort of thing, but thanks to the utterly stupid and stupid looking lead character who really deserves to have his bike broken, this rather encourages than stops children from beating each other up.

I urge you to see this movie and beat someone up afterwards. Preferably someone who looks like the lead character. Don't worry, it serves them right!

Worst movie of the 20th century
netwarrior6 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers yeah, but who cares. This movie was spoiled by the writer, director, the guy who scored it and the collective cast as well.

I must have been 9 or 10 when I watched this "masterpiece" the first time. The frightening thing is that I still remember this movie. I remember the chills when Kim was suffocating in the shower with a plastic bag over his head, but most of all I remember that even in that age I could tell that this movie was nothing but pure and utter laughable crap.

Having re-watched it later I must say I laughed for days. This movie should have a cult following, and actually I heard that it has among some very strange groups of danish people. In some ways I must recon that it's a must-see. For instance as a don't-do-this-at-home for art students, or maybe to teach school kids about harassment AND poor movie quality at the same time. Either way, if you want a lesson in bad film making and a good laugh then watch it.

Is it excellent or awful?
carsten-glerup5 October 2005
That is indeed the question. "Historien om Kim Skov" or "The Story of Kim Skov" was incredibly popular among school teachers in the early 80's. They liked the basic story line of a new kid in school getting harassed by the other kids to the point of the extreme. Everybody saw the film at school at the time and it is truly a rather distressful experience to witness the downfall of a young innocent kid (which could be you!). Some scenes are quite revolting for young children to watch (as I remember it) and although the actors didn't exactly score any Oscar nominations, the gloomy feeling of hopelessness stays with you long after the film ends. So is it excellent or awful? I've decided for excellent since I still - some 20 years after - can get that nauseating feeling when I think of some of the more violent scenes. It made a lasting impression on me and I'm just glad I've never experienced anything like the trials Kim Skov is going through in the film. Poor guy.

This is so bad it is good! (the bike-chain stuff is kewl)
kerwin_dk21 January 2003
This is really bad, it is designed to teach danish students in the smaller classes not to bully each other. Some scenes are worth the while, like the piece where Kim hits the guys that are giving him a hard time with the chain from his bike.
