Variety’s “Actors on Actors” on PBS was awarded the Emmy Award for best entertainment programming at the Television Academy’s 68th Los Angeles area Emmy Awards.
This is the second win in two years for the interview series, which features pairings of prominent actors discussing their craft. “Actors on Actors” was produced by PBS SoCal in partnership with Variety Media, LLC.
Hosted by Variety‘s Jenelle Riley, the 2016 edition featured such pairings as Cate Blanchett and Ian McKellan, Will Smith and Benicio del Toro and Amy Schumer and Lily Tomlin.
The winners of this year’s LA Area Emmy Awards were announced Saturday night at the TV Academy’s newly renovated Wolf Theatre at the Saban Media Center in North Hollywood.
NBC4 was the evening’s big winner with 8 awards, followed by Kmex, Kvea and Time Warner Cable SportsNet L.A. with 5 trophies each.

Kcal 9‘s weeknight anchor crew will be setting their alarm clocks a lot earlier. Sharon Tay, Rick Garcia and meteorologist Evelyn Taft are moving from Kcal’s weeknight 8 and 10 Pm newscasts to sister station CBS 2 for early morning duty. They’ll anchor the weekday 4:30 to 7 Am and 11- to 11:30 Am newscasts beginning November 18. They’re trading with current CBS 2 morning anchors Kent Shocknek and Suzie Suh and meteorologist Rich Fields who will move to the 8 and 10 Pm slot, also beginning on November 18. Sylvia Lopez and Leyna Nguyen will continue to anchor Kcal’s weeknight 9 Pm newscast. The moves were announced today by Steve Mauldin, President and General Manager, CBS 2 and Kcal 9. The trio of Tay, Garcia and Taft have proved to be a ratings success for Kcal 9 since they began working together in August 2010. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation announced today a slate of celebrity presenters for the upcoming 31st College Television Awards. This year, more than 600 students from 156 schools across 38 states entered the competition. Of this group, 24 projects across 11 categories will be honored at the gala ceremony hosted, for the 4th consecutive year, by Tom Bergeron (“Dancing with the Stars”) on April 10th at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood.
