Only two reviews so far.

Just two reviews 64 years after it was made must be an IMDB record. Enjoyable CFF film with plenty of suspense throughout and the bonus of seeing a very Young Michael Crawford. As always in a CFF film the goodies win by the end but no point in making them if this wasn't the case, the moral of all of them being, bad people never win, it's nice to be nice.

Just One Cornetto

Michael Crawford never looked old but here looks barely twelve in his debut as a kid with the unthreatening passion for playing the cornet back in the days when 45 quid for a new one was prohibitively expensive.

As the presence of later 'Carry On' regular Peter Butterworth promises there's plenty of slapstick; while young Gillian Harrison's delightful performance makes her more than just the token girl.

Likeable

Warning: Spoilers
A short, to the point, and utterly likeable Children's Film Foundation story with a Yorkshire setting. Seeing the back streets and alleyways brings joy to my heart and as a plus you get a young and charismatic Michael Crawford indulging in some of his trademark trouser-dropping slapstick too. Peter Butterworth, typically warm, is the icing on the cake here.

Young man with a horn

For some reason this CFF film was edited down from 56 minutes to 38 minutes. So it gets to its climax fairly quickly. It is very amusing, particularly with the tablets of the great Peter Butterworth.

Michael Crawford at the begining of his long and successful career gives a very assured performance.
