Brilliant 1970s TV serial about politics
alan-mackechnie32 November 2013
An utterly brilliant mid 70s serial about a Labour MP able and motivated enough to be a minister but somehow unable to get the nod from those who count. An intelligent very human story which it is difficult to see being made these days but which I would love to see again. Has this ever been available on DVD or VHS?

Arthur Hopcraft was a superb screen writer who adapted Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and other plays. He had the knack of conveying meaning in a few words and seemed to really capture the political world of the 70s (to me as a political outsider at least) whilst showing a man who was extremely likable but flawed.
