Joe Johnston Planning to Shoot Captain America Next June

We haven't heard much from Marvel recently about The First Avenger: Captain America, which is still slated for release in July of 2011. What we do know, though, is that Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer, Jurassic Park III, The Wolfman) is directing and the screenplay is being written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (of all three Chronicles of Narnia movies). Fangoria (via ComingSoon) just published a teaser piece for their upcoming issue that has an interview with Joe Johnston talking about Wolfman. However, near the end of the article they drop a little tidbit about Johnston's plans to start shooting Captain America in June.

Everyone in Hollywood just wants to direct, but when it comes to visual effects artists becoming full-fledged filmmakers, the results aren't always great. Among those who've made the transition, for better or worse, are Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III), Eric Brevig (Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D), Colin and Greg Strause (Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem) and Neil Blomkamp (District 9).
Joining them now is Dean Wright, Oscar-nominated for effects work on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and a veteran artist who had a hand in Titanic, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Kangaroo Jack and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Wright, who got some of his directing experience handling the second unit filming for The Return of the King, is already at work on a Jesus biopic called Kingdom Come, slated for release in 2010. Universal Pictures has released a featurette for the upcoming horror blockbuster “The Wolfman.” There’s lots of new scenes from the film and actors talk about the wolfman myth.
Plot summary: Based on the 1941 classic of the same name, “The Wolfman” tells of Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro), an actor who returns to the home of his estranged father (Anthony Hopkins) after the death of his brother. Familiar awkwardness becomes the least of his problems when he is attacked and bitten by a wolf and quickly takes on hairy, toothy qualities whenever the moon rises.
Directed by Joe Johnston (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Jurassic Park III, Hidalgo), the horror film also stars Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving and Art Malik.
“The Wolfman” hits theaters on February 12th 2010.

The update of the classic monster movie The Wolf Man hasn't had an easy transformation from start to hairy howling finish.
First, director Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) abruptly left shortly before filming, and was replaced by FX guy Joe Johnston (Jumanji, Jurassic Park III). The Universal remake shot in early-mid 2008, with rumors of behind-the-scenes difficulties and reported reshoots. The release date lurched all the way through 2009 until it's current slot on Feb. 12, 2010.

FilmoFilia has just received this new poster for “The Wolfman.”
Based on the 1941 classic of the same name, “The Wolfman” tells of Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro), an actor who returns to the home of his estranged father (Anthony Hopkins) after the death of his brother. Following hot on the heels of the French poster for The Wolfman earlier today, a new French trailer has been released for the horror remake, starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving and Emily Blunt.
Featuring new footage, the trailer is certainly worth a look and for those whose French isn’t that great I wouldn’t worry – the trailer is in English. The Wolfman tears into theatres on 12th February 2010, check out the new trailer below:

Of all the big films on the docket for next year, the one I’m most concerned about is The Wolfman. The second trailer for the film looked pretty badass, I’ll admit – but this movie has suffered a plagued production from the get-go. A change in directors, callbacks for reshoots and re-designs in the creature effects… It all points to a studio trying to turn lead into gold through the usual movie alchemy.
Well, the guys over at Slash Film must have magnifying glass eyes, because they spotted something deep-six buried in an article over at Variety, which names editors Mark Goldblatt and Walter Murch as the two guys hired to do a recut of The Wolfman!

We’re all crossing our fingers that The Wolfman finally manages to make to the big screen on 12th February 2010 without suffering any more delays, and based on the release of another new poster for the horror remake I’d say we’re pretty safe there.
Starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving and Emily Blunt, The Wolfman is a remake of the 1941 monster-horror classic and is directed by Joe Johnston.

Jurassic Park IV is the climate change of the movie world. It's been talked about for years but nobody has really paid any attention to it, partly because it won't happen for a long time and partly because the reality of it is too horrific to even contemplate. But, like climate change, it seems as if Jurassic Park IV is finally becoming a reality. Joe Johnston, the director of Jurassic Park III, has been using interviews for The Wolfman to suggest that a new instalment is closer than ever, and that it's going to set up the franchise for a brand-new trilogy.

Man, that's a good question. We've been hearing a lot about "Jurassic Park 4" during the past years, and yet, the film never really came together. Will it anytime soon? Nobody really knows.
Late last year, producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy said they were not too optimistic a fourth film would happen. Yet, they didn't say the project was completely buried.
Joe Johnston, director of "Jurassic Park III," recently talked to Ain't It Cool News about the film, and he said he is pretty much ready to bring the dinosaurs back to life.

Director Joe Johnston has expressed an interest in returning to the Jurassic Park franchise to create a new trilogy of dinosaur adventures.
Earlier this year, producer Frank Marshall said a fourth movie was a long shot, following reservations about another film after the death of Michael Crichton in 2008.
But Johnston - whose Jurassic Park 3 is widely regarded as the weakest in the series - said he would be prepared to revive the prehistoric predators once more.
He told Ain't It Cool News: "There is a great story for the fourth one that I would be interested in getting involved with and it's nothing like the first three. It sort of takes the franchise off in a completely different direction, which is the only way I would want to get involved."
One early script for Jurassic Park 4 included genetically-modified raptors trained as mercenaries, while another report suggested the fourth film

Harry Knowles at Ain’t It Cool News put up an interview from a while back on the set of The Wolfman with director Joe Johnston. In the interview they discussed a bunch of his previous works and a bit about Jurassic Park 4 for which he is attached to helm.
This was before it was announced that Johnston would be directing The First Avenger: Captain America so unfortunately, that topic does not come up.
In the interview, the topic of special effects (the right mix of practical and digital) came up and Johnston gave the example of the first Jurassic Park and how it still holds up today as something special in that regard. Shortly thereafter, Harry brought the conversation back to Jurassic Park to ask some questions about the widely speculated fourth installment of the franchise. Joe Johnston of course, directed Jurassic Park 3.

Another sneak peek at the awaited "The Wolfman" has been made available for viewing pleasure in the form of a brand new trailer. Unlike previous trailer which takes a look at how the myth of a cursed man is brought back to its iconic origins, this one which is debuted at Apple focuses more on the impressive imagery.
This trailer also gives out a better look at the relationship between Benicio del Toro's Lawrence Talbot and his father Sir John Talbot, who is portrayed by Anthony Hopkins. Glimpses of Emily Blunt as Gwen Conliffe and Hugo Weaving as Detective Aberlin are also included in the promo video.

Universal has released the second trailer for Joe Johnston’s The Wolfman, a gothic horror movie about werewolf origins in the Victorian era starring Benicio Del Toro as the howling beast-man. While the first established characters and a bit of plot, this second smokey trailer shows more of the visuals and effects that went into the February 2010 release.
Also starring Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, and Hugo Weaving, the film looks great from everything we’ve seen thus far. Rick Baker’s make-up looks spot on as usual, the transformation sequences are awesome (unlike the flying wolf leap of Twilight: New Moon), and just the overall rhythm has me excited about this one.
