I never really liked Spike Milligan, however, he had the gift to narrative children's TV, which could never be taken away by anyone.
An earlier attempt with "The Ratties" proved to be a big let down for him, but with this programme, "Wolves, Witches and Giants", he showed a very good side to his talent.
Some critics might say that this show only used old stories, which was true, however Spike used to add his own spin, which was sometimes funny, but more interesting than not.
Once you've heard these stories before like many children have, the last thing they want is the stories all over again! Which is why this programme was even more attention-grabbing. Not only does it teach children how to adapt stories and set examples for them, it also gives them different stories at the same time.
