Gerald Harper welcomed the change of pace when he signed up for the "Gazette" series, after the gruelling schedule of "Adam Adamant Lives."
This one off series of 13 episodes, would introduce television viewers to the character of James Hadleigh. Gerald Harper would go on to make the character his own in the highly successful follow up series, "Hadleigh."
There were plans to film a second series of "Gazette" but was soon abandoned in favour of the "Hadleigh" series.
Jon Laurimore and Gillian Wray would briefly reprise their respective roles in "Hadleigh."
'Gazette' was the precursor to 'Hadleigh'.
