The greatest memory of elementary school
arko9 October 2001
Never before have I asked so many people about a movie and recieved nothing in response.. This obscure little movie is the one thing that reminds me of Elementary School, and the only people I know that have seen it went to my same school.. We saw this little gem constantly during school designated "movie time" and I'm very very thankful for that.. Though I've tried and tried I haven't seen it since then, so my memory is very sketchy... This movie reminds me as a take off of Jack and the Beanstalk, a kid searches for a turkey for his family thanksgiving and recieves a gigantic chicken in return.. Plots like this do not exist anymore.. If you have a chance, rent it, buy it, watch it over and over..

Why is the rating for this movie so low? I thought it was a great kids movie. I used to watch it all the time growing up. It's cute, zany, and fun to watch.

It's about this kid whose parents tell him to pick a turkey up for Thanksgiving dinner...instead, he pops up with a GIANT chicken named Henrietta...this causes ALL SORTS of trouble!

Fascinating glimpse into soul of chicken.

"The Hoboken Chickn Emergency," is perhaps, one of the greatest exercises in surrealism since Salvador Dali's "Un Chien Andalou". The symbolism denoted by the chicken is at the same time nostalgic for a simple, more agricultural time, and characteristic of a new, more frantic lifestyle. The concept of the "emergency", has it's roots in the 1903 film, Edwin S. Porter's "The Life of an American Fireman".

The recalling of such cinematic classics as these surely puts "The Hoboken Chicken Emergency" in a class far above similar efforts.

Truly an American masterpiece.
