George Lucas, upon seeing the film, was so impressed he declared that the movie was really "lost footage from Star Wars". He would later hire writer Steven Melching to be one of the head writers of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) and writer/director Kevin Rubio would also co-write one episode of the series. Rubio would also created the humorous parody Star Wars comic series Tag and Bink, about two screwups who stumble their way through the events of the saga, which proved so popular among fans that the duo were originally going to appear in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) but their scene did not make the final cut.
The stolen droid is Tom Servo from "Mystery Science Theater 3000".
One of the stormtroopers is wearing high heels.
Producers of the show Cops (1989) (which is also what Troops (1997) is parodying) gave the Troops producers 'Cops' hats and jackets.
Troops producers had previously spotted the Stormtroopers on TV being interviewed while they were standing in line for the updated showing of Star Wars. In effect, the Stormtroopers made their costumes for themselves, not for the movie, which is virtually unprecedented in the history of costuming.
