Kristen Stewart's 'Welcome To The Rileys' Role Is Only The Latest Fictional Stripper In Hollywood

7 December 2009 2:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

With pictures of Kristen Stewart as a stripper in the upcoming Sundance player "Welcome to the Rileys" hitting the Internet last week, we decided to take a look back at five Hollywood actresses who starred as a stripper in the past, and how the decision impacted their careers. Some were launched into success stories, while others took a sharp downward turn. Hopefully, Stewart will take some pointers from those who came before her and avoid squashing the success "The Twilight Saga" has given her. If that's even possible.

One unusual fact that's worth noting: three of the five names on this list -- Demi Moore, Lindsay Lohan and Heather Graham -- all followed up their stripper appearances with roles in the Emilio Estevez-directed film, "Bobby." It's hard to say what that means, though three counts as a trend. Apparently, fake stripping drives female actors to Emilio Estevez. Go figure. »

Natalie Portman on ‘Black Swan’ sex scene with Mila Kunis: ‘It’s extreme’

5 November 2009 8:55 AM, PST | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Natalie Portman doesn’t want to turn into Denise Richards who is remembered more for being naked rather than her acting…though, really, there’s little chance of that.

The former Star Wars star is not opposed to doing nude scenes when it’s called for, she’s against nude celebrity web sites like Mr. Skin.

Portman originally turned down a role in Wayne Wang’s 1999 film Anywhere But Here, but joined the project when her nude scene was written out of the film. “I’m not opposed to sexuality or nudity in a film, but I’m very opposed to pornography sites and you’re pretty much giving them material if you do any of that,” she told V magazine. “It’s always a big dilemma for me.”

Portman added that it’s  “annoying because online bullshit interferes with what I want to do artistically.”

Portman's Qualms Over Nude Scenes

5 November 2009 8:11 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Natalie Portman always thinks twice before agreeing to strip off on film - because she fears her naked image will end up on pornography websites.

The actress admits she struggled with the decision to appear nude at the start of her career, and even asked filmmakers to rewrite a scene in her 1999 movie Anywhere But Here because she felt uneasy about baring all.

She tells America's V magazine, "I was figuring out my own sexual identity, likes and dislikes and all that stuff, and it's weird to be doing stuff on film as you're figuring it out. Also being a sexual object when you're a kid is really uncomfortable. After The Professional, I was already getting creepy letters."

Portman insists she would sign up for more film roles that require her to shed her clothes - but she worries the footage will eventually hit the web.

She adds, "It's annoying because online bulls**t interferes with what I want to do artistically. I'm not opposed to sexuality or nudity in a film, but I'm very opposed to pornography sites and you're pretty much giving them material if you do any of that. It's always a big dilemma for me." »

Natalie Portman: 'Porn sites interfere'

5 November 2009 3:36 AM, PST | digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

The actress reportedly turned down a role in Wayne Wang's 1999 movie Anywhere But Here because of the nudity involved but accepted the project when that scene was dropped. Portman told V: "It's annoying because online bulls**t interferes with what I want to do artistically. "I'm not opposed to sexuality or nudity (more) »

Mayday Parade Storm The iTunes Chart: Band You Should Know

7 October 2009 9:02 AM, PDT | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

Yesterday saw the release of a handful of high-profile new albums from Tokio Hotel, Backstreet Boys, Toby Keith and Kiss, but a glance at the iTunes album sales chart revealed something interesting. Among the still-strong sales of Paramore's Brand New Eyes and Jay-z's The Blueprint 3 sits Anywhere But Here, the second album from Tallahassee, Florida's Mayday Parade. The group has been on the road constantly in the lead-up to the release of the album (they're currently on tour with the Academy Is...), and it appears as though their grassroots approach has paid off.

"It's been a really long time for this album," singer Derek Sanders told MTV News on the phone from Salt Lake City, Utah. "We started thinking about it after Warped Tour last year, and haven't really stopped since."

Anywhere But Here represents a transition for the band, as it represents the first release after the departure of former singer Jason Lancaster. »

Oscar-nominated actress Natalie Portman joined her business partner and film developer/new media entrepreneur Christine Aylward to discuss the launch of their new website, www.makingof.com, at a special event in the Filmmaker's Lounge during the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. As they explained, the site is meant to be a gathering place and resource for filmmakers and fans of filmmakers alike. Their web project hopes to transform the way people view, enjoy, and participate in the filmmaking process. The Israeli-born Portman, of course, is the actor who received international attention when she landed the role of Queen/Senator Amidala for Star Wars Episodes I, II, and III.
