- The film follows Shakespeare's play, which is intense and somewhat disturbing. None of this film's depiction of the events, however, are ever graphic or gory.

Violence & Gore
- The most violent scene is the scene where Cornwall rips out Gloucester's eyes. This is a disturbing idea, but this film's portrayal of it is not overly graphic or bloody.
- The end results in nearly every character being killed. None of this is graphic, and it is all consistent with Shakespeare's play.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The scene where Cornwall blinds Gloucester is particularly disturbing as a concept, but not overly graphic or prolonged in this production.
- The end where King Lear brings the dead body of his beloved daughter onto the stage and weeps is particularly intense and sad. King Lear then eventually breaks and dies of grief. This is sad, but it merely follows Shakespeare's actual play.
