TV trope theory reveals that you can dissect any show and find stock characters as well as situations. The big hero, the misunderstood flirt, or the guy who is “crazy awesome” show up in different incarnations decade after decade. Seriously — shouldn’t Barry White be playing by now?
Given that The Walking Dead killed off Rick’s wife seasons ago, and Jessie’s late husband was more interested in smacking her around than knocking boots, how is it possible that the pair have yet to seal the deal? Simple, executive producer Scott M. Gimple tells TVLine. They’ve been less interested in getting laid than in not getting laid to rest.
“I’ve been in scary situations — car crashes and things,” he muses, “and, in the immediate term, your mind is on other things.”

Turns out one of the biggest twists in The Walking Dead‘s super-sized Season 6 premiere on Sunday was a technical one: The episode’s flashback sequences were… colorless. Sure, a bunch of other big stuff happened — namely, Ethan Embry’s rabble-rouser Carter died a surprisingly premature death (sorta) at the hands of Rick — but it was the show’s black-and-white detour that had us most intrigued.
Below, showrunner Scott M. Gimple explains his thinking behind the hue-mungous storytelling tweak, and also weighs in on Carter’s relatively early demise and the subsequent shade Morgan and Michonne threw at Rick.

It's easy to understand why Showtime submitted "Walk This Way" as Liev Schreiber's episode submission for this year's Emmys. In what is generally a role weighted in reserved, non-verbal work, here Schreiber is given the rare opportunity to let the multiple dimensions of his titular "Ray Donovan" character loose. He also served as this episode's director, which should give him bonus points among Emmy voters. Entering the Best Drama Actor race as the show's only nomination, Schreiber carries the torch for the second season of one of Showtime's strongest series, but can he win? -Break- Click here to see the updated list of all 2015 Emmy episode submissions Synopsis The first act of the episode sees Ray, surprised by the realization that it's his son's birthday, gathering the family to attend a last-minute party at his house. Walk this way on Father's Day, Prince George! Last week, Kate Middleton revealed that her 10-month-old son has taken his first steps, and on Father's Day, she helped him walk during Prince William's polo match at Cirencester Park in Gloucestershire. The Duke and Duchess' son practiced walking to his jubilant mother while they were standing on the sidelines. William, meanwhile, was playing to raise money for Centrepoint, which helps the homeless. It was an "impromptu family day out," Clarence House said. George has not been seen in public since his family left Australia on Apr. 25 following a 19-day tour. Middleton modeled blue jeans, her favorite striped shirt from...

The mobile game Candy Crush provides plenty of ways to spend your money, but not on just purchasing the full game, Simon laments...
"What are you doing?", I casually enquired of my wife. She's the owner of a popular brand of tablet computer, and I noticed that she was uncharacteristically deep in the settings of said device. She told me, calmly and desperately trying to hide the signs of an addict, that she was just moving the clock back on her machine.
"Why?", I casually asked. I couldn't help it. I couldn't resist. I should have resisted.
Because as it turns out, she was trying to fool said device into thinking that sufficient time had passed that she should be allowed extra lives on Candy Crush.

Steve Stoute, the former music executive, has long played matchmaker between popular culture and corporate America. Hip-hop was born in New York City in the late 1970s as a way for inner city youth to express themselves. Since then, it has grown into one of the biggest and most commercially successful genres of music. Here at MTV, we like to think we had a little something to do with that.
From Run Dmc’s “Walk This Way” in 1987 to Naughty By Nature’s “Hip Hop Hooray” in 1993, the MTV Video Music Awards have been ahead of the curve when it comes to bringing hip-hop acts into living rooms all over the world.
It’s a tradition that continues to the present: Last year, Kanye West tore up the VMAs with his performance of “Runaway,” and this year, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown will wow viewers live from Los Angeles on August 28.
With so many awesome hip-hop performances over the years, we’re at a loss for...

“She’s gonna overtake him I think and really start whooping his butt soon!”

The Private Eyes (Original Release Date: 10 April 1981)
Nostalgia bulletproofs some movies to criticism. That's how it is for me, at least. I apologize in advance for the inevitably positive review I will be writing for Legend of the Lone Ranger in May. It is roundly hated by casual moviegoers and Lone Ranger fans alike, and there is little chance of your liking it if you weren't indoctrinated into liking it as a child.
Legend of the Lone Ranger was one of my most frequent babysitters growing up, and I developed a good deal of affection for it. Another sitter was The Private Eyes, though like the sitter who continues to baby talk at you when you feel you’ve outgrown baby talk, The Private Eyes has dimmed in my estimation with time. That old affection is hard to access, even if watching it does produce constant flutters of recognition and memories from childhood.

Dannii Minogue has admitted that she was worried about giving Cher Lloyd honest critiques on The X Factor at times, because she finds the teenager quite ‘scary.’
The Australian star explained that she doesn’t think Cher is consistent with her performances on the ITV show, telling The Mirror:
“She’s had a few really good performances but she’s not consistent,” Dannii said. “I was afraid to tell her what I thought in some of her performances. I don’t think she’s trying to be scary. It’s a front because she’s probably more fragile than anybody else.”
Dannii wasn’t best pleased with Cher’s rendition of Walk This Way on last night’s live show. She told the teenager:
I think you should have pulled back in the verses because it felt like it was swallowing you up. It wasn’t your performance, I think it was the track.

Justin Bieber rocked Gillette Stadium on Saturday night (June 5), opening for his pal Taylor Swift with a multi-song set.
The Foxborough, Mass., venue got treated to Biebs in an all-white outfit topped with a black vest and of course, those shaggy bangs as he sang hits such as "Baby," "One Time" and a cover of "Walk This Way."
This time around, he didn't break his foot hopping around on "One Time" like he did the last time he took the stage for Swift.
Check out some of videos of the concert:
"Somebody to Love" - The audio isn't the greatest, and some of the angles are weird, but you get to see Jb up close.
"One Time" - Get over the super-shaky camera at the beginning and you'll get a few good shots of Bieber.

Janette Sadik-Khan Commissioner New York City Department of Transportation New York, New York Janette Sadik-Khan, 49, cut through the congested knots of Manhattan traffic with a novel concept: Close some roads to cars. Green Light for Midtown, a project launched last May, has turned lanes of Broadway in Times Square and Herald Square into pedestrian zones -- and sped up traffic.
"Half a million people go through Times Square each day. It's 90% pedestrians and 10% vehicles, yet 90% of the space has been allocated to vehicles. In an urban environment as complex as New York's, with more than 6,000 miles of streets, in-demand public space, and another million people expected to come here in the next 20 years, we can't accommodate everyone by just triple-decking our roads. We're changing our streetscape's DNA with more trees, benches, and good design, and with bus and bike lanes and pedestrian areas, so that it's about more than just...

Cheo Hodari Coker, the writer of the recent Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious, has signed on to adapt Bill Adler's Tougher Than Leather: The Rise of Run-dmc -- The Authorized Biography. The film, titled Tougher, is being developed by DJ Classicz, the urban arm of Davis Entertainment. Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler will undergo surgery on his throat later this week, but continues to deny rumors he is battling cancer. The Walk This Way rocker is thought to be suffering from strained vocal cords and has canceled the remaining 12 dates of the band's North American tour. Tyler, who celebrates his 58th birthday on Sunday, is refusing to elaborate on his health, but admits he will be unable to sing for up to three months after the operation. A spokesperson for the rocker refused to reveal Tyler's ailment, but says, "Despite Aerosmith's desire to keep the tour going as long as possible, Tyler's doctors advised him not to continue performing to give his voice time to recover."
