More than just in-law trouble

Warning: Spoilers
Once again, Hugh Herbert's in the dog house as the put upon bread winner whose wife (Jeanne Bates) allows her mother and do nothing brother boss him around. His boss wants Herbert to sign a body builder up as a client and Herbert discovers that it's the jealous boyfriend of the young woman whose dress he accidentally tore. The brother-in-law sees money changing hands with her and follows him where everything explodes into a typical nonsensical situation. This plot has been done dozens of time and better, and even as a short, it seems to go on too long. The ending isn't as good as it could have been, and the supporting cast rather bland.

Work Problems Too

Hugh Herbert's brother-in-law, Charles Williams, has wracked up Herbert's car, so Herbert borrows Williams'.... which has no brakes. After a series of accidents, he is told by his boss, Vernon Dent, to go sign up Dick Wessell, the Strongest Man In The World. However, while waiting for Wessell at the man's apartment, Herbert finds Williams and mother-in-law Kitty McHugh have dragged his wife to catch Herbert cheating on her.

Thanks to some canny direction of Hugh McCollum, the usual loud and obnoxious Columbia gags are used to some novel effect, and Herbert gets to apply his signature comic tics.
