The musical numbers are a bust, but the cinematography is full of Cheesy goodness!
"Grill Cheese Bandits" was a total disappointment to this avid lover of cheese and movies about cheese. First off, what in the H-E-double hockeysticks is "Grill Cheese", anyway? Certainly I've eaten many "grilled cheese" sandwiches in my lifetime, but I've never tried "Grill Cheese". The movie starts out with the hero of the story, Andy "Gummy Shoes" Howard caught in the deep freezer of a local deli where he is trying to steal cheese for the local Amish homeless shelter. Once he manages to get out (a plot full of more holes than a slice of swiss cheese!--ba-da-bing!) he cannot deliver the cheese because it's just too darn heavy. Upon the urging of the shelter's top administrator Bobby Brie (played by Noka Aldoratv), Gummy Shoes enlists a group of misfits to help him in his endeavor--look out Robin hood. The dance numbers are atrocious (did I mention that this was a musical?) and the songs are meaningless and monotonous. I give you this example from the closing number called, "My Chedder is Better When Toasted":
"My waterbed is wetter, I love my Irish Setter, And I prefer my chicken gizzards broasted.
So I'm writin' you this letter, To kindly thank you for the sweater, And my Chedder is Better when toasted."
If you're thinking that this will make more sense once you see the movie, you're wrong. The only reason for seeing this movie is the outstanding camera work. Never have I seen so many interesting camera shots taken of a single slice of processed American cheese. Turn the sound down and enjoy.
