According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Madden is in negotiations to direct Miramax’s upcoming thriller “The Debt,” a remake of the 2007 Israeli film “HaHov.”
Assaf Bernstein’s original film follows three Israeli intelligence agents who catch a Nazi war criminal during the 1960s but never grant him an official trail.
But more than 30 years later, when their target’s escape threatens to expose their old cover-up, one of the agents is forced to track him down and eliminate him once and for all.
Matthew Vaughn, director of “Layer Cake” and Marvel’s upcoming “Thor,” wrote the screenplay with Jane Goldman.
Madden most recently directed “Proof.” His credits also include “Shakespaere in Love,” and “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.”

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow was convinced she would never marry after winning an Oscar in 1999 - because the frenzy surrounding the prestigious ceremony and the events after it fulfilled her wildest fantasies.
The 35-year-old actress married Coldplay rocker Chris Martin in December 2003 - and although the pair share two children, Apple, four, and Moses, two - Paltrow admitted she had doubts she would ever walk down the aisle after her big win for her Shakespeare in Love role.
In a 2001 interview, she revealed, "I may never marry. The reason is I already have an Oscar. Women want to get married because of the whole wedding fantasy. It's their big day at the Oscars. It's hair, make-up, big dress, big fuss. I don't need that anymore. I had it with Shakespeare in Love.
"Besides, I don't like being told what to do or anyone extra hemming me in. So I doubt I'll ever get married."

Gwyneth Paltrow was admitted to hospital because she is expecting her third child, according to U.S reports. The Shakespeare In Love star spent Monday night at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital, where she underwent treatment for an unknown ailment. But the New York Daily News claims Paltrow was taken to the hospital by her husband, Coldplay's Chris Martin, because she is pregnant. A source tells the publication they saw the couple in the maternity wing of the hospital, adding, "They looked very serious. She looked upset. They went right past everyone and into the elevator. It seemed like they were expected." However, Paltrow's spokesman Stephen Huvane says speculation about a troubled pregnancy is "guesswork at best." He adds, "This is a private matter not for public consumption." The couple already has two children, Apple, three, and one-year-old Moses.
