Given man's unwavering fascination with woman, it's no surprise that the female star acts as the anchor to a dominant portion of horror pictures. I mean really, who wants to see a bare chested man tearin ass through the woods screaming at the top of his lungs while a bladed assailant nips at his heels? I don't - I know that much, although I'm certain there are plenty of men who would disagree (and that's okay with me, to each his own!). The simple fact remains however, women bring a unique appeal and certain sensual atmosphere to film that no man ever could. And it's not all about gratuitous T&A.
There's a comforting quality in the hands of the heroine; a fascinating maternal strength that, as a man I cannot genuinely relate to. I can however admire, and in many cases it's nearly impossible to not admire the lone »

Buying a birthday gift for some people is close to impossible, either because they have exotic taste or because they already have everything. Usher probably falls into both categories, but just because you can't afford to by the man his own Bengal tiger doesn't mean you can't wish him a happy birthday. The man born Usher Raymond IV turns 31 years old today, and he is certainly doing it on top of the world. The Atlanta native has sold over 40 million albums and won five Grammy Awards since his 1997 debut. His biggest album, 2004's Confessions, yielded the chart-topping hits "Confessions Part II," "Burn" and "Yeah!" In fact, his record of consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 was only recently broken by the dominance of the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling." In addition to his music, he has also acted in a number of films (including »

We've listed down our top 50 hottest young actors and would be coming up with the latest updates very soon. Yesterday, we discussed about actors we believed to be quite underrated. How about the young actors we consider overrated? That's what this article is for...

Who qualifies as overrated? Guys who seem to be getting lots of buzz, but has no real talent at all, or perhaps just a small amount of it. I have no issue if an actor gets the cover of GQ or Details or L'Uomo Vogue every month. They can even strut their stuff on the catwalks of Milan and Paris and gain additional media mileage. But to be considered the hottest actor on the planet with nothing to show yet? That is something totally absurd.
Anyway, here's our list of ten just after the jump!

Ask anyone who comes to mind when they think of horror films and odds are the list will include guys like Jason, Michael Myers and Leatherface. While we're being bombarded with resurrections of popular 80s slasher flicks featuring monstrous giants with a mean streak, a new breed of killer has cropped up, the unlikely female. Enormity and a chainsaw are a thing of the past. Nowadays the maniac behind a bloodbath could be a pretty face with a hidden agenda. It's kind of like Elijah Wood's theory in The Faculty, "If you were going to take over the world, would you blow up the White House 'Independence Day' style, or sneak in through the back door?" That's the approach a new breed of horror films have started taking with their killers. The seven-foot-tall monster brandishing a machete is hackneyed. Mass murderers are growing a pair and I »

It's no mystery that Robert Rodriguez loves the kid stuff with three Spy Kids films under his belt as well as Shark Boy and Lava Girl, which are in stark contrast to films like From Dusk Till Dawn and The Faculty! No matter how child friendly the film, Rodriguez always packs in the monsters as if each were a love letter to Ray Harryhausen himself. Now comes Shorts, packed with all manor of beasties including children turned insects and a booger monster ready to devour you whole. Will this movie warp your child's fragile mind? Jump in to find out...

Maxim magazine released their 2009 Top 100 World's Most Beautiful Women list, and I was surprised to see that Eliza Dushku and Jennifer Love Hewitt cracked the top 10. Below is a list of all the women in the top ten who have appeared in horror films. I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Ghost Whisperer's Jennifer Love Hewitt is number 10. Jordana Brewster of The Faculty and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is number 9. Eliza Dushku who played Faith on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and starred in Wrong Turn is number 6. Megan Fox who stars in the upcoming horror/comedy Jennifer's Body and Jonah Hex is number 2. Olivia Wilde who was in 2006's Turistas is number 1. The horror genre should give itself a pat on the back for keeping some of the "most beautiful" women employed all these years. »

I know, I know - why in the world would I choose Dreamcatcher and The Faculty as a face off feature? Because they’re two pretty damn entertaining modern invasion films - that’s why! There are so many differentials between these two films it’s ridiculous. I understand, and openly confess my knowledge. But in the end, both of these are invasion flicks, and both are truly enjoyable pieces by a pair of talented film makers.
Dreamcatcher: Dreamcatcher centers on a group of five life long friends, connected by not only kinship, but a series of magical powers unique to each character. At the center of this mystical gift lies Duddits (Andrew Robb as a child, Donnie Wahlberg as an adult) a mentally challenged child befriended by a young group of outcasts consisting of Henry (Mikey Holekamp as a child, Thomas Jane as an adult) Devlin, Beaver (Reece Thompson as a child, »

Behind the icy blue eyes and heavily muscled arms of sexy actor Robert Patrick lies something you'd least expect: a great sense of humor. No, seriously! The man most famous for portraying the evil T-100 model in Terminator 2 actually gets to show his funny side in his new sci-fi comedy Alien Trespass, out April 3rd in theaters. "I prefer to have more female fans than male fans," says Robert. "I got into this business for the ladies." Which is why he was happy to be our Mr. April 2009. Robert has starred in the horror films The Faculty, Decoy, and the recent Autopsy; the action/thrillers Last Gasp and Zero Tolerance; the TV series The X-Files; the Roger Cormon apocalyptic joyrides Warlords from Hell and Futurehunters; and even now stars in the TV series The Unit. I.ve been a fan of Jordana Brewster since The Faculty. She is just utterly stunning, and a pretty damn cool actress. And now, she is back with Fast And Furious along with her co-stars Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriquez. It was nice to see her grow this time around and she seems to really have fun playing Mia again. It is also great to see her work on the NBC series .Chuck.. When I sat down with her for our on-camera interview, I was at an advantage because we also got to... »

The Final Chapter (read Part 2 here)! We have Howard the Duck, Freejack and Shyamalan flicks on the list; these are never good signs. Nonetheless we are bringing it all to you in full-color and in 3-D. (Ed. Note: Due to the economy, 3-D has been dropped and will be replaced by Smell-o-vision — check for your scratch and sniff cards in about 4-6 weeks.) Best Sound went to rage-zombie veterans Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke, leaving Mark Weingarten who worked on Rejuvenatrix in the dust. The Sound Editing section contains one too many references to Ron Silver, and at least two references to a Roger Corman film.

Variety reports that Robert Rodriguez is set to reteam with Dimension for his next film, the futuristic thriller "Nerverackers." The multihyphenate will write and direct the pic, which already has a release date of April 16, 2010.
Set in 2085, the story centers on a character named Joe Tezca who is part of an elite unit dispatched to quell a crime wave in a theoretically perfect future society.
Most of Rodriguez's filmography has borne the Dimension label, including "Sin City," the "Planet Terror" half of "Grindhouse" and the "Spy Kids" franchise, which grossed $310 million domestically. Dimension topper and Weinstein Co. co-chief Bob Weinstein noted his ties with Rodriguez date back to the 1996 release of "From Dusk Till Dawn."

Along with the much anticipated sequel to Sin City that’s currently in pre-production, writer/director Robert Rodriguez has somehow found space in his schedule for a futuristic sci-fi thriller called Nerverackers.
He will be working with long time collaborators Dimension, who’s past joint efforts include Planet Terror, Sin City and the Spy Kids franchise.
To say this genre is out of left field for the director is an understatement indeed, but it’s even more surprising to read just what he’s aiming for as far as plot goes:
Set in 2085, the story centers on a character named Joe Tezca who is part of an elite unit dispatched to quell a crime wave in a theoretically perfect future society.
Rodriguez’s resume has consisted of mainly horror (From Dusk Till Dawn, Planet Terror, The Faculty) and action films (El Mariachi, Desperado, Once Upon A Time In Mexico). The »

Variety has reported the first details on Nerverackers, writer/director Robert Rodriguez’s (pictured) next feature for Dimension. The initial fact revealed about the film was its release date: April 16, 2010.
Despite the horrific-sounding title, the movie seems to be more of a futuristic police thriller, set in the year 2085. In this supposedly perfect society, the protagonist, Joe Tezca, attempts to stop a crime wave as part of an elite law-enforcement unit. Rodriguez’s numerous previous genre features with Dimension include From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty and Grindhouse: Planet Terror. »

There were but two major childhood events that truly sealed the deal with me when it came to following my macabre muse, to forging a lifelong, lovely and lurid obsession with horror films and creepy culture. The first was when I saw the 1977 Kiss album Love Gun at my local library. I was 3. The cover depicted the original four glam rockers in a garish painting, standing in chamber full of mist while a horde of pale, vampirish women swoon at their dragon heeled feet.
I became fixated on this image. And frightened. I didn't know what Kiss was and attempts by my father to explain that they were a rock band fell on deaf ears. Too me, these guys were monsters, literally. They were fucking scary. I would have night terrors that Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter were swirling out of my ceiling vent in my bedroom to get me. »

Since the new Friday the 13th (which, judging by the trailer, seems to be a compression of the first three films) is coming out on Friday, it’s probably time to talk about remakes a little bit. In recent times, they’ve been nothing but bad news in every genre they’ve been attempted in, but a certain cultural animosity seems to be reserved for remakes in the horror genre, which seem to be coming at us at a rapid clip from that bottomless well of mediocrity, the 1980s.
With that said, it’s easy to forget that there have actually been a number of remakes that were at least as good as the original (compare the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers to the original; it holds up quite nicely) if not just plain better (David Cronenberg’s The Fly mops the floor with the Vincent Price version). For my own part, »

Box Office Mojo reports that Dimension has set new release dates for a pair of its upcoming horror films. In addition to a new berth for Piranha 3-D, the company also slotted a Robert Rodriguez fright film called Nerveracker.
Piranha 3-D, the latest remake to be directed by Alexandre Aja after The Hills Have Eyes and Mirrors—but his first in three dimensions—has been shifted from July 24 of this year to March 19, 2010. Pictured is concept art revealed at last year’s American Film Market. Nerveracker, for which no story or any other details have yet come to light, marks Rodriguez’s fourth genre outing for Dimension after From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty and Grindhouse/Planet Terror, and is currently set to open April 16, 2010. Casting, never mind shooting, hasn’t yet begun on either film, so we’ll see if those dates hold; keep your eyes here for more news as it comes in. »
