Korean adoptees - one of the first films in Korea to face the issue
chkim8 August 2002
Amazingly, most of the film takes places in Sweden with the title character (played by Choi Jin-shil) speaking in Swedish the entire time. Very impressive performance by Choi. This film emotionally probes the issue of Korean adoptees abroad. South Korea had an epidemic of sending its orphans abroad and this film is a bittersweet perspective of that phenomenon. The film's a tear-jerker and although not the best film-making, it's an issue-oriented movie and should be viewed for that.
