Stanley's Dragon - worth a watch with kids
EJStoner187 September 2005
A cute movie that my kids (5 and 7) enjoyed. Stanley's Dragon is heartwarming family fun, not syrupy, but sweet. It has a decent plot and good acting. No big name stars here, just talented folks who seem to enjoy being in the movie.

Don't expect huge budget special effects, some imagination is required here. However, Stanley's Dragon is worth watching (especially with younger kids who like dragons and such). When the movie was over, my son's first response was "Is there another Stanley's Dragon (sequel)?"

Set in modern day England, the story revolves Stanley who finds a dragons egg, which then hatches. What happens as the dragon grows up in a world not ready for creatures of the past? Watch and find out.

The Dragon that wasn't
freakfire-131 December 2008
Even for a 90s movie, this is a cheaply made movie. Maybe not "Hood Angles" or "Hood of the Living Dead" cheap, but it comes pretty close. Cheap doesn't always mean bad, but this sure was. And no, I am not changing my opinion on this.

Some boys go to a cave and one finds and egg. He hides it from everybody except his female companion. But as it gets bigger, its hard to hide and it becomes sought after. In the end, the dragon is set free and all are happy (I guess).

The special effects weren't that great. The dragon is immobile except for its neck and wings. Everything else looks like its paralyzed. The only fun thing is the blown up gas station. "F"
