Elvis Lives.....well sort of.
moviemeister11 September 2004
This movie was a rather interesting first take for Director Sobel. The story is interesting, the comedy works, somewhat, and the characters are well developed. The biggest downside is in the technical aspects of the film. The sound quality is very bad at times. And, the lighting;Lee, one word of advice.TAKE A PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS!!The lighting is terrible, just terrible. Most of it is full frontal, sort of like the old 8mm movie lights, which were mounted on the front top of the cameras. If the director was trying to make it look like a home movie, then he succeeded. But, I think it detracted from the story, the characters, and made the film less watchable. I spent most of the movie complaining about the bad lighting, instead of watching the film.

Still, I have to give the film a 4 out of ten, if for nothing else, the killer soundtrack, featuring some of the best underground rockabilly bands ever.I hope that this director gets more opportunities to develop his craft, as his story was actually pretty good.Maybe, with some experience, and a bigger budget, he could come up with something really good.rp

Based On The Subject-Matter, I Was Hoping I Would Like This...
EVOL66630 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
...unfortunately, I didn't. ROCKABILLY VAMPIRE has really very little going for it. I'm a relatively big rockabilly/psycho fan, so I thought I'd dig this film - but honestly, it was so extremely dull that I could barely sit through the whole thing...

A vampiric Elvis reincarnate woos a local thrift store girl while a bunch of other boring sh!t happens...

Honestly - that's all I got from ROCKABILLY VAMPIRE. There are a few funny characters and a few decent one-liners - and the acting isn't completely horrible for this sort of film - but NOTHING really happens throughout the entirely too long run-time. At forty minutes into it, it felt like an eternity, and then I realized I was not even half-way through. The soundtrack is OK, and I guess if you're a HUGE Troma fan or are such a big rockabilly fan that you MUST own anything related to the genre, then go for it - otherwise, this is a bore-fest with only minimal redeeming factors. Even the over-abundant cheezy gore that you would expect from a Troma release is missing...skip this one...3/10

A really fun vampire movie

Sure, it's an independent film, it's got it's technical problems, the beginning doesn't grab you, the acting at times is mechanical, but once you get past that first 5 minutes you'll find yourself absorbed with the characters, amused by their idiosyncrasies, and you'll be on a whirlwind ride of strange romances, kooky and outrageous characters, and a pretty solid storyline. I'd recommend this film to anyone, it's definitely on my top 5 list of vampire movies. The soundtrack is unbeatable for anyone who enjoys rockabilly and rock music in general. On a more personal note: I loved the Wrecks and Beatleboy characters, they are hilarious!

" Are you really a vampire?" " Of the rockabilly kind."

Rockabilly Vampire is a stupid movie, but that's a given, you know that it's a stupid movie and you watch it anyways. that said, the acting is awful and the characters are great!!!! the acting is so bad that it becomes part of the movie, if you don't expect good acting then you wont be disappointed when the lines seemed rehearsed. even the awful actors are great!!! the music is amazing, the lines are hilarious, and the main vampire is to die for!! pun intended..... der, if you like rockabilly, the beatles, vamipres, banana sandwiches, hot guys, voodoo and ummm.... microwave dinners then of course you're gonna love this movie its a horribly wonderful film and i am addicted to it.

"That's what Lincoln said when he invented the telephone..."
whammy6667 July 2006
I got this movie in the Troma Triple B-Header Vol. 2: Tainted. Though I haven't watched any of the other films on the DVD, I did watch this. This movie's budget is obviously VERY low. The sound quality and picture quality are not great...but the movie is. This movie is genius. An Elvis impersonator that is a vampire...you never actually find out if "Eddie" is actually the king, or if he is just some fan of the King. This movie is pretty funny, especially when a character thinks Lincoln invented the telephone. And the best part is..."Are you really a vampire?" "Of the rockabilly kind." The acting is decent, what can you expect from a no budget flick? This is worth checking out for any Troma/B-movie fans. Check out Rockabilly Vampire...Burnin love.

Rockabilly never tasted so bad.

"NEWSFLASH: EVEN TROMA FANS WILL PROBABLY HATE THIS MOVIE"

TROMA have long been producing bad films, with the occasional masterpiece, but this is definitely not one of those. (A masterpiece that is)

It's boring, badly acted, rubbish that is simply a waste of everybody's time.

The only good feature about this movie is that it gave two guys a break, whose names I don't know, but they went on to co-star in TROMEO AND JULIET and did a great job.
