The best Area 51 documentary ever made
crash218 May 2008
This was made back in the good old days, when the Discovery Channel produced shows that were actually educational and entertaining, instead of being nothing but lazy reality shows. In my opinion, "Area 51: The Real Story" is the best documentary on Area 51 that was ever made, and one of the best shows the Discovery Channel ever produced. It explains the whole history of Area 51 very well and in great detail. And with a lot of thanks to Stuart Brown's role in this (the guy who ironically looked a lot like John Lithgow from '3rd Rock from the Sun') the documentary was quite amusing too.

The only downside to this show was at the end when they interviewed Jim Wilson and got his silly story from Popular Mechanics, about Area 51 having been abandoned. Where are the pictures, if he actually drove out there and saw this stuff first hand? What's funny, is that several of these same people produced another documentary five years later, called "Return to Area 51", which admitted that Area 51 is still a very active place.

I really hope they put this on DVD some day, because "Area 51: The Real Story" is a very interesting documentary that is really worth keeping.
