Trivia:
Ray and Claude arrive at the Mississippi prison in 1932. They spend give 65 years in jail, meaning the last year the movie takes place in is 1997. And Ray says in that year that he's 90 years old, meaning he was born in 1907 (Claude was also probably born in that year or somewhere close to it). So they were 25 when they came to jail, 37 when they are shown in the 1944, and 65 when they are shown in 1972. more
Goofs:
Continuity: When Claude and Rayford are driving to pick up some bootleg liquor, the camera switches over from one side of the car to the other, each time Rayford's shirt is constantly changing from, buttons tied to the top to having the top two buttons undone. more
Quotes:
Claude Banks: You know what I'm going to buy with my first paycheck?
Daisy: What, baby?
Claude Banks: Season tickets to the Yankees. Right there on the first baseline.
[Daisy looks unhappy]
Claude Banks: What’s wrong, baby?
Daisy: I was hoping you were going to say an engagement ring, Claude?
Claude Banks: An engagement ring?
Daisy: That's what respectable folks do: get a job, get married, start having babies. That's what you want, isn't it?

That's Life., 16 June 2003
8/10
Author: Scott LeBrun from Winnipeg, Canada

Two young men (Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence) are paired together by circumstance in 1932 New York City; while travelling in the South, they are framed for murder and are sent to Mississippi State Prison where they spend the majority of their lives (over fifty years!).

For me, what really made it work was seeing Murphy and Lawrence work together, and they are really, really good. The material has both plenty of humor and some very serious, heartfelt moments. Other assets include Wyclef Jean's music score, amusing supporting performances by Obba Babatunde, Nick Cassavetes, Bernie Mac, et al., and writing that is actually decent. Thanks to Rick Baker's fantastic makeup effects, Murphy's and Lawrence's characters actually look their ages at the different stages in the movie.

It's one of the better movies that I've seen from either Murphy or Lawrence in the last few years; it gets an eight out of ten from me.
