Spawn (1997) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Clown makes crude remarks/jokes throughout the movie, including taunting Spawn by talking about his wife having sex with other men. There's nothing very explicit though; it should be ok for children 13+

No nudity

Violence & Gore

Quite a bit of violence, though most of the "blood" is just green CGI stuff.

Al Simmons ("Spawn") is burned alive.

People are killed by explosions and gunfire throughout the movie.

In one of the final scenes of the movie, the Violator tries to eat Spawn, but Spawn releases his spikes inside the Violator's mouth and then wraps his chains around it's neck and decapitates it. We then see the Violator's head change back into the Clown's head, lying on the floor in a puddle of CGI ooze

Profanity

Many "ass"-es, "damn"s, and "son of a bitch"-es, but nothing major.

Wine is drunk at a gala.

Several characters smoke cigars.

The scene were Simmons is set on fire is pretty intense and may frighten younger viewers.

Pictures are shown of victims of disease outbreaks (nothing graphic, but it might be unsettling to some viewers).

Malebolgia, Spawn, and the Clown/Violator may frighten younger viewers, as well as the scenes which take place in Hell.

The movie's plot deals heavily with Heaven and Hell and the oncoming apocalypse, as Spawn's duty is to gain souls for Malebolgia (the devil)'s army. The movie may be frightening to younger viewers.
