Trivia:

Arne Jacobsen, the designer of the Egg Chair, received punitive damages from the film studio after they copied his chair without permission in order to have enough of them for the scene where the recruits assemble at MiB headquarters for the test.

Goofs:

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): After Jay passes the tests near the beginning of the movie and sits in the park discussing aliens with Kay, Kay comments that "1,500 years ago everybody knew the Earth was the centre of the universe; 500 years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat". 1,500 years ago, only Europeans believed the Earth to be the centre of the solar system - the Greeks, Indians and most of the Moslem world had proposed and accepted theories of heliocentrism (i.e. the sun as the centre) several hundred years before Copernicus first published his theories on the matter in the 16th Century CE. The Earth's spherical nature was something that most scholars and all navigators were aware of as early as 400 BCE and has been common knowledge for the past 1,000 years.

A great fantasy-comedy

I am very upset that most people take this movie too seriously This movie is just a nice comedy with a very intriguing subject. Most people try to find bug in this movie but i believe that they should just sit back and enjoy the great epic line. Let's be serious do you believe that a galaxy can be carried around a cat's belt or that "Elivs is not dead he's just gone home" ? For this reason I believe this is an excellent comedy with a Sf theme. I also appreciate that the acting is very good and the script is very nicely written. I urge people to stop taking the "noisy cricket" too serious! This movie is making fun of the people who take this sort of things too seriously.
