Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Jonathan Pine in two further series of The Night Manager, based on characters created by John Le Carre.
Back in 2018, The Night Manager was a huge hit for the BBC, winning 36 awards including two Emmys, a BAFTA and several Golden Globes.
Adapted from the 1993 novel by John Le Carre, the show followed Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston), the night manager of a high class hotel in Cairo, who is recruited by Angela Burr (Olivia Colman), the manager of a Foreign Office task force, to infiltrate the inner circle of sinister arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie).
It was a glossy, big budget production, and writer David Farr expertly crafted Le Carre’s twisty plot into six exhilarating hours of drama.

Amazon and the BBC are teaming to revive the Emmy- and BAFTA-winning thriller The Night Manager, eight years after its initial run.
Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role in the show, which scored a two-season order from the BBC and Amazon’s Prime Video streaming platform. Series creator David Farr is also set to return as writer. Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, who starred in the first season, will also be executive producers.
The Ink Factory (The Little Drummer Girl, The Pigeon Tunnel) is producing The Night Manager in association with Character 7, Demarest Films and 127 Wall. The series is a co-production with Spain’s Nostromo Pictures. Georgi Banks-Davies (I Hate Suzie, Paper Girls) will direct all six episodes of season two.

“Candyman” star Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and “The Prince of Persia’s” Gemma Arterton find themselves battling a mysterious assassin in the first trailer for Disney+ U.K. original series “Culprits,” which drops in the U.K. and Ireland on Disney+ on Nov. 8 and in the U.S. on Dec. 8 on Hulu.
The series, from filmmaker J Blakeson (“I Care A Lot”) tells the story of a group of elite reformed criminals who have left their old, bad selves behind. Just when they thought they could start afresh, a ruthless mystery assassin turns up to pick them off one by one — and they begin to realize not everyone is willing to let the past go.
“Why are they being stalked, who is behind the mayhem and will they be able to find one another in time to protect themselves and the people they love?” reads the logline.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is currently in its Multiversal phase, and the upcoming projects promise a plethora of exciting content. A noteworthy aspect of these upcoming endeavors is the increased emphasis on various superhero teams. While fans have predominantly followed the Avengers’ adventures, a shift is imminent with the inclusion of X-Men, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and Midnight Sons, all either confirmed or rumored in the MCU.
Leaked information from sources like MyTimeToShine and previously DanielPRK suggests that Marvel Studios initially intended to introduce another superhero team called the Daughters of Liberty. A project dedicated to an all-female superhero team was in the works, but strikes disrupted the development schedule, casting uncertainty over several projects.

2016's "Deadpool" was ridiculous, silly, juvenile, and more fun than you can stuff in a unicorn piñata. I could certainly be talking about the actual film here, but at the moment, I'm giggling over the opening credits. Set to Juice Newton's "Angel of the Morning," the slow-motion battle that leads into the opening car chase is a riot of irreverence with silly names and jokes and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) giving someone a slo-mo wedgie, all the while being made fun of by the title cards. I don't know about you, but I'd like all comedy opening credits to be like this.
As it turns out, the names given to the cast and crew in the "Deadpool" credits weren't supposed to make it into the actual film. They were placeholders, as was revealed during a panel at 2016's Silicon Valley Comic Con (via ComicBook.com) featuring Franck Balson, the layout director...

What does an American singer-songwriter owe famed Belgian actor Jan Decleir? Apparently, an appreciation for the Dutch language. In 2006, San Francisco Bay Area native Amelia Ray spent three months studying Dutch at the University of Amsterdam. She was struggling to learn the language until she discovered the film Karakter in the university’s media library. In short order, Ray unearthed newfound motivation to study through a love of Decleir’s acting.
In the Oscar-winning 1997 film Karakter, Decleir stars as the cold-blooded bailiff Dreverhaven. The role earned him Joseph Plateau and Paris Film Festival best actor awards.
“I was struck by his ability to command entire scenes without uttering a word and his gift for portraying an overwhelming feeling of vulnerability,” Ray, who studied film at Howard University, says. “His films helped sustain my interest in learning Dutch, and I vowed to write a song letter to him one day.”

Fire Emblem games have a long-standing tradition of letting characters hook up with one another. Nothing encourages love quite like a battle of life and death against bandits and dragons. The latest entry, Fire Emblem Engage, is no different. Mostly.
In previous Fire Emblem games, most characters can develop relationships with one another. The stronger the relationship, the bigger the buffs they receive when fighting side-by-side. If these relationships grow enough, they can even result in wedding bells, although not every character is or will be attracted to every other character. Usually, the series’ protagonist gets most of the action (wink wink), and in some cases, romancing comes with an extra reward. While Fire Emblem Engage‘s romance system functions similarly to previous entries, the mechanic is both scaled back and expands upon what came before
Here’s a quick and dirty guide on the Fire Emblem Engage’s romance system.

Like so many other games with a skill point system, Horizon Forbidden West is designed to encourage you to experiment with a variety of playstyles and character build possibilities. However, it’s far more likely that you’ll find yourself staring hopelessly at the game’s six skill trees as you wonder (and worry) which unlockable skills are really the best.
So far as that goes, you’ll (probably) be happy to know that Forbidden West’s skill system is balanced in a way that makes it possible to thrive and survive regardless of how, exactly, you level your character. Unlike some games we may be talking about later this week, you don’t have to worry about making things harder on yourself because you built your character the “wrong way” or because you missed out on some incredible ability.
That being said, there are a few skills in Forbidden...

The fear of seemingly harmless strangers that’s heightened during our era of online “relationships” (not to mention Covid) is cannily exploited in actor-turned-writer-director Christian Tafdrup’s “Speak No Evil.” Building on the thorny couple dynamics of his prior features “Parents” and “A Horrible Woman,” this excruciatingly.
Tafdrup’s squirm-inducing tale is premiering in Sundance’s Midnight section, and should find ready berth among genre fans, with strong potential for remake bids. (Distribution rights have already been secured by horror streaming service Shudder.) At the same time, its all-too-palpable cruelty will repel some viewers, in the same way such prior atypical horrors as the original “Wolf Creek” and both editions of “Funny Games” did.
A grim final destination is all the more upsetting because the over-the-top melodrama of Sune Kolst’s orchestral score, applied straightaway to a simple opening shot of a car driving down a road at night, suggests...

Pairing wine with movies! See the trailers and hear the fascinating commentary for these movies, and many more, at Trailers From Hell. This week, we pair drinks with movies about – how shall we put this delicately – working girls. Y’know, hookers.
The 1990 rom-com Pretty Woman has Richard Gere hooking up with Julia Roberts. The meet-cute happens after his girlfriend breaks up with him, leaving him dateless for a business soirée. How dare she! No girlfriend? Just call a hooker to take her place. Maybe it was that sort of behavior that caused her to leave him.
Of course, the business bastard is reformed through his relationship with the whore-with-a-heart-of-gold. In the end, he gets the girl and she gets the white knight about which she has always dreamed. Not bad for a film that started out as a dark story about L.A. prostitution and drugs. The studio wanted a more “feel good” approach.

Zareen Khan recalls being rejected from a film for looking the way she does. The Bollywood actress says she was bluntly told about the industry perception that pretty girls cannot act.
"It's not just me who has been typecast. I feel every person in this industry gets typecast. When I came out with 'Veer' I was typecast as pretty girl, a girl next door -- just comparisons and everything. So, I did not get enough chances. (Actually) Did not get a chance at all after that. (I was called) Fat, and this and that," revealed Zareen Khan.
She says her dance number "Character dheela" in the Salman Khan-starrer "Ready" somewhat helped in changing perceptions. "People were like, 'she can look like that also. She has lost weight, nice'. Then came 'Hate Story' and people said she is so hot," she recalled.
Still, Zareen was rejected...

Despite a relatively unassuming title, Henry Butash’s ruminative feature debut, The Atlantic City Story, is a quietly profound, muted character study, following two wayward souls at a crossroads in their lives, looking to the faux-glamour of Atlantic City as a possible escape. While hitting familiar narrative beats, the film features a career-best performance by notable character actor Jessica Hecht and relative newcomer Mike Faist (perhaps most famous for his work in Dear Evan Hansen), marking an auspicious debut for the first-time director.
Trapped in a seemingly routine marriage, Jane (Hecht) decides to flee her suburban Jersey life on her birthday, buying a bus ticket and, ultimately, a hotel room in the casino. Perhaps unsure herself why she is taking the trip, she wanders through the casino floor before finding a roulette table where Arthur (Faist) is sitting. Despite its critical acclaim, Robin Campillo’s “Bpm (Beats per Minute),” was left out of the Best Foreign Language Film line-up at this year’s Golden Globes. While that snub was shocking, a Golden Globes bid is not essential for an Oscar win. Indeed, since the Golden Globes introduced this category in 1965, 19 of the 51 Academy Awards winners for Best Foreign Language Film were snubbed for this precursor prize:
1965: “The Shop on Main Street” (Czechoslovakia)
1971: “The Garden of the Finzi Continis (Italy)
1975: “Dersu Uzala” (Soviet Union)
1976: “Black and White in Color” (Ivory Coast)
1979: “The Tin Drum” (West Germany)
1980: “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears” (Soviet Union)
1981: “Mephisto” (Hungary)
1982: “To Begin Again” (Spain)
1987: “Babette’s Feast” (Denmark)
1990: “Journey of Hope” (Switzerland)
1991: “Mediterraneo” (Italy)
1993: “Belle Époque” (Spain)

AMTERDAM -- Paradise Now, the suicide-bomber drama directed by Dutch-Palestinian Hany Abu-Assad, has become the best-selling film in Dutch cinema history. The Oscar-nominated co-production already has been sold to 80 territories, including North America, Israel, Egypt, Iran, Japan, Brazil, Japan, Morocco and nearly every country in Western Europe. According to Holland Film, Paradise Now has overtaken the previous leader, Karakter, which won the Oscar for best foreign-language film in 1997. That film, directed by Mike van Diem, was later picked up by 63 territories. Paradise Now also could end up as the most-awarded film from the Netherlands. The co-production of Amsterdam-based Augustus Film -- made with support from France, Germany and Israel -- has already won an impressive number of awards, including three awards at the 2005 Berlin International Film Festival, the Golden Globe for best foreign film, the Golden Calf for best film at the Dutch film festival in Utrecht and the European Film Award for best screenplay.
AMSTERDAM -- Mijke de Jong's family film Bluebird, has been picked as the official Dutch contender for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2006 Academy Awards, selection committee Holland Film announced Wednesday. The movie, awarded a Glass Bear in the children's section of this year's Berlin International Film Festival, tells the story of a 13-year-old girl who is pestered by her schoolmates. The events have a dramatic effect on her private life. Bluebird has been presented at several international festivals, including Toronto. The Dutch are traditionally one of the first territories to announce their candidate for the foreign language Oscar. Previous Dutch winners in the section are Marleen Gorris' Antonia's Line in 1996 and Mike van Diem's Karakter in 1998. Two years ago, Twin Sisters, directed by Ben Sombogaart, received a nomination.
