The Last Airbender
Opens: July 2nd 2010
Cast: Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel
Director: M. Night Shyamalan
Summary: A live-action film based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series. In a fantastic world where civilisation exists as four great empires, a reluctant young child sets out on a perilous journey to restore balance to a world torn apart by war.
Analysis: Its been quite the decade for M. Night Shyamalan who started it as a household name with labels of a moodern-day Hitchcock thanks to the likes of "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs". Today he's considered more of a one-trick pony and in some cases a punchline due to rampant stories of egomania run wild and a series of much derided onscreen flops like "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening".
Thus 'Airbender' marks a potential return to form for the helmer. An adaptation of the hit cartoon series

Five 'Fall' Titles To Celebrate The Autumnal Equinox

When a hail of raining "Meatballs" earns box office gold over the likes of the bloody, sexy, Megan Fox-starring "Jennifer's Body," it's clear that summer is truly over. Fall is upon us now, meaning that the days of the big Hollywood blockbuster will have to wait until next May. In the meantime, there's plenty of other film fare to look forward to and plenty to look back upon.
Earlier today, our friends at Hollywood Crush devised a list of movies that take place in autumn, but such an array of films is a bit too subtle for my tastes. Just hearing the word "fall" is enough to get my wheelhouse churning, because there are so many movies that have the word in their title... some of 'em good, some of 'em not so much.
For your viewing pleasure, behold our five most memorable flicks with the word "fall" in its title.

Fallen angels show pitched to Fox

A proposed TV show with supernatural religious elements has been pitched to the Fox network by Eagle Eye co-screenwriter John Glenn. On first blush Fallen sounds like a concept that takes bits and pieces from other better-known movies and TV shows but hey, when has that ever stopped a network from making a series before?
Glenn's idea is that there exists a group of fallen angels living in New York City that can't let go of their former lives as God's cops. They pass time on Earth by serving as vigilantes, pursuing criminals while also fighting demons, engaging in romantic affairs with each other and looking for some kind of "personal revenge." It sounds cold as hell to say but I give it three weeks on Fox's Friday night line-up.
There's no word how advanced Glenn's project is or if the network will give it the go-ahead to film a pilot.

[DVD Review] Fracture

When Grisham was king of the novel-to-movie adaptation, a title stolen briefly from the hands of Stephen King, law dramas would hit theaters every year and would consistently entertain. As the Hollywood system is wont to do, the introduction of Grisham-films to the theatrical sphere spurred a mass exodus of other legal dramas from the page to the screen. But then there was a lull. It seemed for quite a while that stories about court cases were best shown on television – or maybe it was that audiences were inundated with Law & Order spin-offs to the point that no one wanted to pay to see them in theaters – who knows. The point is, when Fracture rolled around in 2007 it actually seemed fresh. Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder.
But the heart is fickle; or rather, the heart isn’t so easily fooled by the peak-a-boo antics of a film genre.

Much like Jimmey Kimmel Live was his first nighttime talk show appearance, Channing Tatum will soon appear as a presenter for the first time (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) on a major awards show.
MTV announced today that Chan and his 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra' Sienna Miller will be joining Sandra Bullock, Dwayne Johnson, Bradley Cooper, Abigail Breslin, and Sofia Vassilieva (Medium) as presenters at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Denzel Washington, Cameron Diaz, Ryan Reynolds, Vanessa Hudgens, Leighton Meester, Jonah Hill and Lil Wayne were previously announced as presenters.
Sure to be a dream come true for 'Twilight' fans everywhere, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will present an exclusive scene from 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' at the awards show. The never-before-seen clip is a first look at the much anticipated next installment in the Summit Entertainment vampire film franchise

2009 seems to be the summer of action, more so than last year’s so-so slate could ever hope to be. Included in this year’s slate of course, are a number of prequels sure to rock the socks off of those who will be going to see them. In fact, 2009 seems to have more prequels than normal, perhaps more than ever!
In spite of this, we also have the blossoming of new franchises, whilst other (more popular) ones begin winding down. It’s a year of variety folks, take advantage of it. If you want to check out what’s on when then you’re in the right place, take a look at the Summer slate for 2009 after the jump:
X-Men Origins: Wolverine |Us: 1st May|UK: 29th April|
Why should I see it? : Wolverine is without a doubt the main man from Marvel. Played brilliantly in the first two films by Hugh Jackman,
