  • Continuity: Ramirez is a Naval Lieutenant Commander, yet when seen in uniform for the first time, his shoulder boards have the two stripes of a Naval Lieutenant. The correct shoulder boards (with 2-1/2 stripes) are seen throughout the rest of film.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Ramirez as Jackal escapes from the woman's apartment by leaping from one balcony to another, you can see the mat on the balcony that the stuntman lands on.

  • Factual errors: At the naval reception, the American flag hanging above the band is backwards. The field (the stars) should be on the left, not on the right.

  • Errors in geography: During the car chase in Libya, you can see a sign on one of the walls in Hebrew, and there are no Hebrew signs in Libya.

  • Continuity: After Ramirez dives through the window to escape from the French secret service, he gets up and runs off unarmed. Suddenly he has a gun to shoot a French agent in the head.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When the car flips over on the stair, you can see the stuntman wearing a helmet before the car explodes.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Amos and Annibal Ramirez are talking in the street for a brief moment the shadow of the camera is visible on Amos's shirt.

  • Factual errors: The background voices in Libya are speaking Levantine Arabic, which is spoken in Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine, but definitely not Libya.

  • Factual errors: The KGB Head Officer is wearing incorrectly colored shoulder boards. A KGB General would have royal blue outlining the gold, the uniform shown has the Army red.

  • Factual errors: According to the subtitles, the Russian officer at the KGB headquarters reports to his superior that "the C.I.A. has deposited in Zurich fifty million dollars into the account of a Mister Paulo Ortega". However, actually he says is: "We have just obtained information from our representative in Zurich that the head of the C.I.A. has opened an account in the amount exceeding fifty thousand dollars in the name of Paulo Ortega"

  • Errors in geography: After the scene at Heathrow Airport, Jack and Annibal are supposedly driving through London in a Jaguar with a London bus in the background but an American style fire hydrant is clearly visible.

  • Factual errors: When Annibal Ramirez is going around in the Jerusalem market (about 15 minutes into the movie) we see him reach into his bag for film (to supposedly reload his camera), but the subsequent shot clearly shows there is no film in the open camera that he closes before he takes the picture of the two guards.

  • Continuity: When Annibal is in the safe house in Israel with Carlos' ex-girlfriend he removes his boxers and she comments on his size. A few moments later when he walks towards her you can see he is wearing black shorts.

  • Anachronisms: When Annibal returns home, there is a smooth top stove in his house which did not exist in the 1980s.
